Benefits

Paid Time off:

PTO: we offer 17 days of PTO in years 1 and 2 of employment that accrued at 5.23 hours a pay period for full time employees. After two years, that amount increases a day a year.

Floating/Personal Holidays: at the start of each fiscal year (9/1) or at time of hire, all staff have 2 floating holidays/personal holidays. These can be used by salaried/exempt staff in full or half day increments for any day off. We want to provide in case there is a holiday that is important to an employee that isn’t observed below to give that flexibility to take the time off paid. This time can be used for any reason just like PTO. At the 5 year mark, employees get 2 additional floating holidays at their anniversary. At the 10 years mark, employees get 4 additional floating holidays at their anniversary.

Holidays and more:

MAW observes 12 paid holidays as well as time off traditions we have had for the past few fiscal years, that are continuing this fiscal year (FY22) that started September 1. All staff is able to work at half day the day before the holidays observed, with a half day paid by MAW. We will also enjoy Summer Fridays/Greater Bay Rocks Days again – with the first Friday of May, June, July and August off as paid MAW holidays. This is not reflected in the employee handbook or offer letter as there is no promise of a yearly occurrence. With the 12 holidays observed, these extra ½ days before holidays, 5 Greater Bay Rocks days, and two floating holidays annually it amounts to 25 paid days off a year on top of the accrued PTO. So in the first year, that is 42 days total of paid time off.

Benefits:

Retirement contribution match: MAW will match up to 4% of the employees salary in our retirement plan. Employees may participate the first of the month after the date of hire and your funds are vested immediately. If you contribute 4% of your paycheck each pay period, MAW will match that 4%.

Medical/Dental/Short & Long Term Disability/Life Insurance at 2x annual salary: MAW pays 100% of the premium for the employee on all of those benefits. Our sponsored medical plan is Kaiser HMO A Platinum – the highest tier of Kaiser coverage. Employees have access to choose a plan other than Kaiser – and MAW will still pay what would have been paid toward the Kaiser premium. All benefits start the first of the month following date of hire.

Budgeted and approved for FY22 (9/1/21-8/31/21): $40/month work from home stipend paid via payroll as an expense reimbursement

Hybrid Work Model: Starting January 18, 2022 MAW will support a hybrid work model with 3 days a week in the office and up to 2 days remote each week. Tuesday and Wednesday are set days in the office for all staff. Employees may choose to work more than 3 days in the office.

Evaluations and Increases:

For new hires, we have a 90-day check in as well as a formal 6 month performance evaluation.

90 day check in: The check in is just what it sounds like – how are things going, do you have the resources and training you need and this is the time we have the employee work with their supervisor to set goals for the formal 6 month evaluation process. We like to give our new hires time to learn more about their role, about MAW before putting pen to paper for measurable goals and that is discussion with the supervisor.

6 month evaluation: This is a formal performance evaluation that includes checking in on the goals set at the 90 day check in.. The employee completes a self-evaluation and the supervisor completes an evaluation. We don’t promise an salary adjustment or merit increase at the 6 month evaluation, but it have happened if a new hire is going well beyond our expectations.

Annual evaluations: We conduct annual evaluations every October for all staff beyond their 6 month evaluation. The evaluation includes checking in on the 6 month goals (or last year’s goals as applicable). There is generally a cost of living increase. It is also at this time we do any salary adjustments as well as merit based increases.

Full Staff Bonus Opportunity: Staff incentive plan that will provide bonuses at two levels based on annual salary – 1.5% bonus if the organization meets its budgeted revenue goal for the year, and another 1.5% after the fundraising is met if the total number of wishes granted is achieved

Paid Time off:

PTO: we offer 17 days of PTO in years 1 and 2 of employment that accrued at 5.23 hours a pay period for full time employees. After two years, that amount increases a day a year…
