The Arab American Association of New York (AAANY) seeks a full-time domestic violence case manager to manage a portfolio of individual cases and facilitate support groups for survivors of domestic violence (DV) and intimate partner violence (IPV). This positi manager will utilize a trauma-informed lens, recognizing the impact of oppression on the lives of DV/IPV survivors and its intersection with many groups, including women, people of color, disabled persons, immigrants, LGBTQ community members, and the elderly.

The case manager will be responsible for providing mental health screening, risk assessment, and crisis intervention for survivors and their families. This can include making referrals for other agencies to address the client's shelter/housing, food insecurity and childcare needs. As well as connecting clients to legal services and assisting in the clients in obtaining orders of protections Other referrals will include physical and mental health, substance abuse, housing, employment, and child care. Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide integrated, interdisciplinary, collaborative, trauma informed, domestic violence specific and culturally competent services. 
  • Provide crisis intervention, safety planning, needs assessment, and client accompaniment to appointments. 
  • Facilitate domestic violence psycho-education and support groups in English and Arabic at the agency and in the community. 
  • Provide education and information on domestic violence and the impact of violence on adults and children. 
  • Provide and collaborate with appropriate referrals to outside agencies/providers based on client needs to ensure consistency in the delivery of services. 
  • Maintains current and accurate records of services provided. 
  • Assists with data collection and adheres to reporting requirements and documentation of program activities and session notes. 
  • Perform other work related to duties as requested by the Social Worker and the Executive Director 

Program Management: 

  • Provide needed mental health services to the community; 
  • Conduct outreach efforts to raise awareness of mental health services and opportunities to community members; 
  • Work closely with AAANY’s mental health partner (NYU Langone) as per grant requirements; 
  • Work closely with operational and clinical supervisors; 
  • Submit monthly and quarterly grant reports; 
  • Enter data accurately into data entry system and manage data for reporting; 
  • Support with staff development and capacity building trainings; 
  • Network with other organizations and networks for both awareness raising and training; 
  • Support in proposal writing and reporting, as requested; 

Clinical:

  • Conduct mental health screenings and psychosocial assessments; 
  • Provide individual outpatient therapy to adult clients utilizing different therapeutic methodology; 
  • Keep detailed client charts and programmatic records as per grant requirements; 
  • Provide supportive counseling and referrals to walk-in clients for domestic violence victims and families dealing with the Administration of Children’s Services; 
  • Provide ongoing individual coaching and supervision to staff as it pertains to their support of community members’ mental health needs; 
  • Serve as point person for crisis-intervention, de-escalation and child/youth protection; 
  • Facilitate psychoeducation groups/workshops for the community; 
  • Support in the establishment and development of our case management system; 
  • Provide support to AAANY staff on referral pathways; 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Full-time employees also receive 15 days of paid vacation , also six personal days, eight sick days, fifteen paid holidays, as well, AAANY will be closed for 1 week for summer recces. In addition, The employee is expected to contribute 4% of their pre-tax income to their monthly premium. AAANY will cover the remainder of the individual premium. Any additional insured will be paid by the employee. Only employees who opt in to AAANY’s group policy are eligible for dental & vision coverage.
