    THE OPPORTUNITY

    Today 1.1 billion people around the world are needlessly blind. If we do nothing, the next 30 years will see vision loss nearly double. To address this, The Fred Hollows Foundation is embarking on an ambitious and sector leading global fundraising Campaign, unlocking significant new resources to make a truly catalytic change in the battle against avoidable blindness around the world.

    The Director Principal Gifts (USA) will proactively implement exceptional relationship management, cultivation, and solicitation strategies across the U.S. Market to build enduring relationships and secure transformational gifts ($1m+) for the Campaign.

    You are a dynamic and passionate professional with a proven track record in fundraising, particularly in securing million-dollar gifts from high-net-worth individuals. Your excellent written and verbal communication skills enable you to build and nurture strong relationships, fostering trust and collaboration with stakeholders at all levels.

    With exceptional organizational and time-management skills, you thrive in fast-paced environments, adeptly managing competing priorities and seizing opportunities as they arise. Your flexible and adaptable work style allows you to navigate multiple time zones and lead effectively through periods of change, ensuring that you remain responsive to evolving needs.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Strategy: In close partnership with the Head of Global Comprehensive Campaign and Head of North America to design and develop a Transformational donor engagement strategy and a plan to grow The Foundation’s philanthropic revenue in the U.S. Market.
    • Prospects Development: Develop and execute programs/activities to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward donors at the $1 million level or higher. Cultivate relationships with individual donors in partnership with organizational leadership (Board of Directors and Head of North America), volunteers and fundraising teams in Australia and abroad.
    • Product development and localization: Work with the Campaign team to develop the necessary products to support the implementation of the Campaign in the U.S. Market and collaborate with Transformational Gift Manager Global to localize the Campaign and maximize Transformational giving.
    • Global Collaboration: Collaborate with colleagues on local and global projects and initiatives as appropriate; liaise with colleagues in other Foundation fundraising offices to share innovations and best practices and, where needed, provide support; and interface with program colleagues around the world to meet funder demands and organizational fundraising needs

    WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED

    • Seven years’ experience in UHNW fundraising, including large campaigns and transformational gifts.
    • Strong understanding of the philanthropic landscape in U.S. and globally.
    • Experience soliciting 7+ figure gifts from high-net-worth individuals, working with DAF, Family Offices, and Trusts and Foundations
    • Demonstrated experience building long term relationships to deliver growth against ambitious targets.
    • Ability to lead and build strong relationships with peers and other internal stakeholders.
    • Ability to think strategically and work proactively, managing competing priorities.
    • Experience in strategic project planning, report writing, and executing sophisticated donor engagement.
    • Experience working with cross-functional, global teams.
    • Experience briefing and working with C-suite leaders.
    • Willingness to work flexibly across time zones.
    • Willingness to travel domestically as required and potentially internationally.
