Position Summary:

Masa partners with Mexican and Latino children, youth, and families in the South Bronx to develop strong learners and leaders who fully contribute to the broader community.


Reporting to the Executive Director, the Education & Family Engagement Director oversees several education and family engagement programs, providing supervision and support to staff, as well as facilitating analysis of and reflection on program quality. These programs may include early childhood (home visiting, Pre-K Playgroup), K-8 (after-school program, robotics, literacy, and social justice intensives), and family engagement (parent workshops and women’s economic empowerment programs). The Education & Family Engagement Director may also have some externally-facing responsibilities, such as meeting with funders or speaking at events


Job responsibilities:

Program Oversight and Implementation: Oversee and lead the implementation of a portfolio of programs that may include early childhood, K-8, and family engagement, including:

  • Support recruiting, hiring, and onboarding of program staff
  • Provide staff support and supervision, with a focus on: reflective practice; program planning aligned to organizational and programmatic goals, objectives, and values; and ensuring systems are effective
  • Review and provide feedback on program curriculum and plans, ensuring alignment to community interests and grounded in a strengths-based, social justice/culturally responsive framework
  • Plan and facilitate (or engage partners to facilitate) workshops, group sessions, and other programmatic activities as needed
  • Oversee and/or provide referrals and case management for participants enrolled in program portfolio, including appropriate follow-up and referral to culturally fluent partner agencies
  • Support staff in planning periodic program and community events
  • In partnership with the Executive Director, build and maintain partnerships with key organizations that offer culturally fluent services in demand within the Masa community

Program Quality, Operations, and Compliance:

  • Lead implementation of evaluation tools, including ensuring data is compiled and data analysis
  • Support the development of and monitor program budgets and spending, including for reimbursement-based programs
  • Oversee program policies, operations, and enrollment, including volunteer recruitment, to ensure compliance with all external regulations, internal policies, and funder requirements
  • Ensure program policies and procedures are appropriately and thoroughly documented
  • Prepare reports for Executive Director and/or funder review
  • Prepare and run key data reports through SalesForce and other information systems to support program evaluation and reflection
  • Draft key sections of grant proposals, grant reports, and other external communications
  • o  Support special projects and events as needed, including City Council hearings, panel discussions, funder meetings, and other externally-facing events


Requirements:

  • Fully bilingual in Spanish and English
  • 5+ years of experience working in partnership with Latino immigrant communities; passionate about drawing on families’ strengths and traditions to build strong partnerships with community members
  • 5+ years of non-profit management experience, including at least 2 in education or family-focused settings and at least 2 in a supervisory role
  • Experience developing and managing program budgets
  • Curriculum development experience; familiar with culturally responsive and social justice approaches
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Highly organized and self-managing; able to work independently
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Tech-savvy; excellent Excel and Word skills in particular
  • MSW preferred
  • Experience with program evaluation methods and data analysis preferred
  • Database experience, especially SalesForce, preferred
