Marketing Associates at GSGLA will be assigned to serve designated departments as their primary point-of-contact and account representative in the Marketing & Communications Department as they coordinate, communicate, create, and execute dynamic and comprehensive marketing and communications campaigns. The Marketing Associate is a full-time employee of the Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles (GSGLA) and reports to the Senior Manager of Communications, PR, and Events. The Marketing Associate will be responsible for campaigns and the production of assets for assigned departments.

In collaboration with the marketing and communications team, this function includes but is not limited to the following: influencing and brainstorming ideas for marketing campaigns, cross-departmental collaboration to build, communicate, and report on campaigns, market research, and continued education in marketing trends and emerging marketing channels.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Campaigns require copywriting, designing and producing compelling content for digital and print outreach, engagement, and advertising, and creating attractive promotional events, campaigns, and initiatives with the primary goal of supporting our key organizational priorities.

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Graphic Design

  • The basic design of materials to support campaigns such as fliers, social media graphics, patches, etc. The graphic design scope will not include major publications.

Content Writing

  • General writing and editing support such as social media posts, website updates, copy-editing, Council communications, and collateral etc.

Digital Content

  • In partnership with the Senior Manager of Communications, PR, and Events, develops and manages digital advertising on all platforms, including Council website.
  • Routinely updates website and occasional creates campaign- and department-specific pages.
  • Provides digital lead generator for membership.
  • Reports on digital analytics and advertising impressions.
  • Provides basic photo and video editing for social media, website, and other campaigns.
  • Develops and schedules branded content to fulfill social media strategies designed to engage our audiences.
  • Works closely with the Senior Manager of Communications, Events, and PR to plan and execute dynamic social media campaigns.
  • Closely tracks and reports out on campaigns’ performance and provides recommendations based on research and data with professionalism.

Collaboration and Relationship-Building

  • Works closely with the Senior Manager of Communications, PR, and Events to develop a comprehensive suite of externally focused marketing and messaging materials, providing creative direction and communicating a compelling brand position.
  • Works closely with the Senior Manager of Communications, PR, and Events to define the vision for the GSGLA brand, ensuring brand consistency across all channels and platforms.
  • Partners with key members of the Marketing & Communications team to ensure integration of brand marketing, public relations, digital, email, social media and content strategies and initiatives that drive brand visibility and loyalty.
  • Responsible for stewarding positive working relationships with other departments; under the direction of the Senior Manager of Communications, PR and Events, uses strong communication skills, outlines and agrees upon expectations, deliverables,  strategy, and proactive planning and communication.
  • Collaborates with the Senior Manager of Communications, PR, and Events on the production of signature events for corresponding assigned departments.
  • Provides courteous, consistent, professional, and knowledgeable customer service to external constituents and internal clients.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Marketing and Communications and/or the Senior
  • Communications Manager of Communications, PR, and Events.

 

Skills, Experience & Education

  • Minimum of 3 years demonstrated, progressive experience in marketing including at least three of the following: digital/social media content creation and management, writing, video editing and production, graphic design.
  • Marketing experience in areas outside of brand/consumer marketing (e.g., CRM, e-commerce, customer insights, sales) preferred.
  •  Outstanding oral communication and sales skills.
  • Excellent organization and project management skills.
  • Effective decision making with a high level of personal integrity and professionalism.
  • Experience in Adobe or willingness to learn Experience Manager is preferred.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work in a PC environment.
  • CMS, HTML, email marketing and print production process familiarity a plus.
  • Must be a positive team player with excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to relationship-building for the organization.
  • Proven ability to successfully handle multiple projects and meet critical deadlines.
  • Non-profit experience preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with the Los Angeles market and Spanish language fluency preferred but not required.
  • Flexibility to occasionally attend evening and/or weekend meetings and/or events in the greater Los Angeles area.
  • Valid California driver’s license, vehicle in working condition, proof of insurance and the ability to fulfill timely and extensive travel requirements across a large geographical area.
  • Able to pass a criminal background check.
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in graphic design, marketing, or related field.

Physical Requirements

The incumbent is in a non-confined office-type setting in which he or she is free to move about at will. The environment for this position is mostly clean and comfortable but may include some minor annoyances such as noise, odors, drafts, etc. While performing this work, the incumbent:

  • Will spend time sitting, utilizing the computer.
  • Will spend time standing/walking throughout the facilities.
  • Must travel via personal vehicle or public transport to various facilities throughout the region.
  • May lift up to 15 lbs. periodically. If more, the incumbent must request assistance.
  • The incumbent must be able to perform this job safely, without endangering the health or safety of him/herself or others.
