Position Summary:

Centro de los Derechos del Migrante, Inc. (CDM) seeks a Project Director to join its dynamic, binational team of migrant workers’ rights advocates. This is a unique opportunity to lead CDM’s newest project, an initiative focused on ensuring health and safety for workers employed in protein processing (seafood, meat and poultry). The location of this position is negotiable.

About You:

You have a deep-seated commitment to social, racial, and economic justice, and are passionate about defending the rights of migrant workers, immigrants, and low-wage workers. With experience managing and overseeing large-scale projects and grants, you are ready to take on a multifaceted role in a collaborative, high-energy environment, supported by a team that will energize and inspire you. You are excited about the opportunity to supervise, mentor, and develop staff to ensure CDM reaches its highest potential. You are comfortable switching between languages and enjoy collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to accomplish a variety of tasks.

Position Responsibilities:

The Project Director will lead CDM’s newest initiative targeted at protecting essential workers from emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases. Under the direction of CDM’s Executive Director, the Project Director will create, oversee and mobilize a new team, partnering with allies to reach and train workers employed by protein processors in the Delaware-Maryland-Virginia region. Key duties include:

• Recruit a skilled team of multilingual professionals to support CDM’s efforts as they relate to this project;

• Supervise the work of a multifaceted 3-5 person team, bringing together team members with expertise in data, law and public health, guiding and overseeing their day-to-day work;

• Oversee the overall progress and advancement of the initiative, ensuring team members and allies meet set deadlines;

• Coordinate with allies and subcontractors to negotiate and carry out grant-related activities;

• In collaboration with the data analyst, oversee the collection, management and analysis of data gathered from workers and employers;

• Prepare and compile project reports;

• Evaluate the impact and effectiveness of the strategies employed;

• Represent CDM at meetings with allies and partners.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

• Full professional fluency in spoken and written Spanish and English (additional language skills are desirable but not required);

• Experience managing large-scale projects and/or grants;

• Demonstrated ability to supervise, mentor and develop staff;

• Demonstrated commitment to social, racial and economic justice, and an understanding of the challenges facing migrant workers, immigrants and low-wage workers;

• Ability to thrive in a collaborative, high-energy environment.
