Make the Road NY operates neighborhood-based community centers in Bushwick, Brooklyn; Jackson Heights, Queens; Port Richmond, Staten Island, Brentwood, Long Island and White Plains, Westchester. With a membership of more than 24,000 low-income New Yorkers, Make the Road tackles the critical issues facing our community: workplace justice, tenants’ rights, immigrant rights, language-access, LGBTQ justice, public education, health care access, and immigration reform.
Make the Road New York (MRNY) is seeking to hire a Director of Community Organizing. This is a full-time position that will require travel around our five office sites.
Overall Role Description:
Make the Road New York seeks an experienced and energetic Director of Community Organizing to support a team of veteran community organizers in developing and sustaining grassroots campaigns to achieve a pro-worker, pro-immigrant, pro-TGNCIQ, racial and economic justice agenda. The staff person will work closely with MRNY Lead Organizers (adult and youth) on all aspects of growing the department, including base-building, leadership development, resource development, developing issue campaigns and strategic communications.
