Description

DESCRIPTION

The Haven seeks a passionate, mission-oriented, and inclusive leader to serve as Executive Director (ED).

THE HAVEN

The Haven’s mission is to provide a safe and welcoming space for people experiencing homelessness or extreme poverty, supporting individuals and families as they pursue stability through connections to resources and creative housing interventions. In partnership with our HUD-designated Continuum of Care, the Haven manages coordinated entry, rapid rehousing, and homelessness prevention with funding from federal, state, and local agencies. The Haven practices radical hospitality, valuing and learning from the contributions of guests, and opening the doors wide for any and everyone, no matter their circumstances.

The Haven has an operating budget of just above $2 million. The Haven currently employs twenty-three people including thirteen full-time employees and ten part-time employees.

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

The Executive Director champions the organization's mission and values and leads the development of strategies for the organization's core priority areas in cooperation with the Board of Directors. The Executive Director will report to the Board of Directors and has overall operational responsibility for The Haven’s fundraising, outreach, partnerships, programs, and execution of its mission. Key responsibilities include managing senior staff, programmatic collaboration with the continuum of care, fundraising, and collaboration with the Board of Directors.

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

The Haven seeks an experienced, empathetic, and strategic leader with a track record of success. The ED must be mission-driven, judicious, and principled; able to make sound decisions; and able to work collaboratively with a diverse group of community members, partners, and colleagues.

In addition to these competencies and attributes, the following specific qualifications are required:

● Non-profit experience (5+ years), preferably working with marginalized populations

● Management experience, including supervising personnel (5+ years)

● Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice

● Proven ability to work well with others, including a diverse collection of team members, and people experiencing extreme poverty

● Strong communication skills (verbal and written)

● Strong collaborator and meeting facilitator

Experience with nonprofits addressing homelessness or access to affordable housing is preferred, as is understanding of Trauma-Informed Care and Harm Reduction principles. Patience, resilience, and a good sense of humor are also appreciated.

People with lived experience related to homelessness and extreme poverty, and those from groups traditionally underrepresented in leadership are particularly encouraged to apply.

The Haven is targeting a base salary of $115,000 to $125,000 with benefits. There may be room for some negotiation for candidates with truly exceptional experience, and candidates are encouraged to apply with transparency about their compensation requirements if they are outside of the advertised range. All possible discretion will be exercised to maintain the privacy of applicants through the search process.
