Youth Education in the Arts (YEA! at www.yea.org) is a non-profit organization based in Allentown, PA. Its programs allow thousands of talented performers to participate in pageantry events nationwide. USBands – The largest sanctioning body for scholastic music competitions in the United States.


YEA! seeks an enthusiastic, well-organized individual to serve as Executive Director reporting to the Youth Education in the Arts Board of Directors.


This position is responsible for providing strategic leadership and managing the day-to-day operations of the organization. Ultimately, the Executive Director is responsible for the success of the organization. Together, the Board of Directors and the Executive Director assure the organization’s accomplishments and financial sustainability are aligned with the organization’s mission, vision, values, and goals. The Executive Director strategizes, directs, and organizes operational activities with the highest level of integrity. All program directors report to the Executive Director, including the Director of the Cadets. The Executive Director of YEA! is not the Director of the Cadets, Cadets2, or any other YEA! program.

 

Duties include: Planning and execution of annual budget; providing for world class program quality and expansion; establishing employment and administrative policies and procedures for all functions and for the day-to-day operations of YEA!; serving as YEA!’s primary spokesperson to the organization’s constituents, the media, and the general public; establishing and maintaining relationships with various organizations throughout the country and utilizing those relationships to strategically enhance YEA!’s mission; seeking Board of Director involvement in policy decisions, fundraising, and to increase the overall visibility of the organization; supervising and collaborating with organization staff; strategic planning and implementation; overseeing marketing and other communication efforts; reviewing and approving contracts for services; other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors.


Qualifications: Four-year college degree required, master’s degree a plus.

Five or more years senior management experience in the non-profit sector with an understanding of the strategic business and management affairs of a non-profit organization; demonstrates high moral and ethical standards; serves as a role model for staff, students, and community members; demonstrates strong human relations skills and builds effective relationships with all constituencies and values their input; practices community listening skills; has demonstrated leadership skills and capabilities to provide strong leadership organization wide; hires effective staff and allows them the flexibility and authority to perform their duties; able to delegate effectively; possesses effective communication skills including verbal, written, and public speaking; demonstrates patience, understanding, consideration, and courtesy; extensive events, project, program, and relationship management experience; solid, hands-on, budget management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making and reporting; strong organizational abilities including strategic thinking, planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation; ability to convey a vision of YEA!’s strategic future to staff, board, volunteers and donors; knowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relations unique to the non-profit sector; skills to interface, collaborate with, and motivate staff and volunteers; ability to interface and engage diverse volunteer and donor groups.


Location: Works from the YEA! office at 601 W. Hamilton St. Allentown, PA. Periodic travel by air and automobile required to fulfill the duties of the job.
