Florida Deputy Director

ABIC seeks to hire a qualified and experienced individual as a full-time Florida Deputy Director based in South Florida. ABIC is a fast growing national organization and staff will be working closely with teams across the country to promote its mission.

The Florida Deputy Director will report to the ABIC Florida State Director and will work directly with ABIC staff and its consultants to focus primarily on building business and community support for immigrants in South Florida to deliver sensible immigration solutions in Florida and at the federal level.

 To succeed in this position, the individual must be able to manage expectations and meet deadlines, organize and present information, pay attention to detail, maintain confidentiality, demonstrate honesty and trustworthiness and make a solid, positive impact. The new hire must be self-motivated, responsible, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.

 The Florida Deputy Director will become a critical and valued part of our mission to protect immigrants in Florida and build a vibrant single-issue, bipartisan, pro-immigration business coalition.

 RESPONSIBILITIES

●    Serve as a public-facing leader for ABIC’s work in Florida

●    Build relationships with key leaders and organizations, recruit CEOs of major corporations to publicly support common sense immigration solutions, manage business and CEO engagement, coalition organizing, and other in-state outreach on behalf of ABIC

●    Understand and advocate for the labor needs of businesses and the importance of high and low skilled immigrant workers in the economy

●    Communicate and find common ground with conservative and moderate elected and business leaders

●    Coordinate ongoing engagement for business leaders and coalition members on issues of immigration fairness, including facilitating op-eds, public letters, and coalition calls, meetings, and press events

●    Drive a strategic, winning and bipartisan membership growth strategy

●    Engage with major donors, corporate partners, and others to drive fundraising

●    Work with communications consultants to direct engagement and relationships with the media

●    Actively support other ABIC programs as needed such as Small Business Technical Assistance, a national program supporting small businesses in pandemic recovery efforts

●    Develop working relationships with Federal, State, and Local lawmakers and their offices across Florida

●    Travel to national staff events and throughout Florida for meetings, events, and advocacy activities

●    Respond quickly to rapid-response situations.

  QUALIFICATIONS

●    A deep commitment to advocating for a path to citizenship and comfort and ease advocating for undocumented immigrants

●    3 to 5 years of direct experience in organizing or a related field such as political, grassroots, or fundraising activities

●    Exceptional communication skills (interpersonal, written, and verbal)

●    Competency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Suite

●    Spanish language proficiency is preferred but not required

●    Experience with EveryAction and Asana preferred

Although the position is remote, applicants must reside in South Florida.
