POSITION OVERVIEW 

Reporting to and working closely with the Development Director, the Development Associate is responsible for the development operations and administration and works closely with the other members of the Mamatoto Village development team to engage individual and institutional funders in supporting the work of Mamatoto Village. Primary responsibilities include gift processing, maintaining the Mamatoto Village donor database (Little Green Light), supporting donor appeals and campaigns, providing support and service to third-party fundraisers, and assisting with funder prospect research. The ideal candidate has a clear grasp of all core components of development, with particularly strong experience in development operations and CRM management. 

This is a full-time position based in the Mamatoto Village Washington, DC office (virtually located through the end of the pandemic). People of color are strongly encouraged to apply. Mamatoto Village offers a competitive benefits package. The salary for this position will be $46,000-$56,000 commensurate with experience.

ATTRIBUTES OF COMPETITIVE CANDIDATES

Competitive candidates will have 1-3 years of nonprofit and/or fundraising experience and enjoy working on small teams whose members all wear many hats. They must be considerate listeners and believe everyone has an important story to tell. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, eager to support Mamatoto’s senior staff in achieving revenue goals and executing fundraising efforts. They must appreciate structure and systems and believe they make the work easier and better. They should be efficient at handling multiple priorities, work efficiently, take initiative, be organized, and a team player. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Managing Development Operations and Revenue Tracking 

  • Conduct weekly gift processing and acknowledgement letter mail merges
  • Manage the execution of the Mamatoto Village donor stewardship plan, prompting team members to execute their roles on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis 
  • Spearhead data input and ensure data integrity and accuracy in all records and reports in Little Green Light (LGL), Mamatoto’s CRM 
  • Routinely update how-to documentation to codify and safeguard systems
  • Work with accounting team to ensure LGL and accounting reports are reconciled

Support of Individual Giving Strategies 

  • Prepare meeting briefs for Mamatoto Village development staff when meeting with donors; including agendas and other miscellaneous communication collateral
  • Work closely with the Development Director in updating the Mamatoto Village development plan to accomplish organizational goals as they relate to data health and impact
  • Assist with the design and project management of annual digital and mailed fundraising appeals such as the annual Mother’s Day Appeal and End of Year Appeal
  • Serve as the main point of contact for all third-party fundraisers, supporting them in meeting their goals and tracking their progress through donation to Mamatoto  
  • Manage a small portfolio of monthly donors to build donor relationships 
  • Support the Development Director and Executive Director in conducting donor prospect research
  • Prepare development-related reports and materials for Mamatoto Board of Directors meetings
  • Serve as lead logistics coordinator for any donor events
  • Manage reports for fundraising efforts

Support of Foundation Funding 

  • Ensure all grants are tracked in LGL, including deadlines, tasks, and report needs
  • Assist Grants Manager with grant application processes via drafting text, compiling attachments, and tracking timelines
  • Assist with foundation prospect research as necessary 

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS TO FOSTER SUCCESS 

  • A Bachelor’s degree and 1-3 years of nonprofit and/or fundraising experience
  • Strong familiarity with human rights, reproductive justice, and/or maternal and infant health content
  • Able to simultaneously manage high levels of detail across multiple projects
  • Solid verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Database experience, donor database a plus 
  • High level of skill with iOS and MS Office software
  • Strong research skills 
  • Must be able to work with sensitive and protected information in a confidential manner
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication
  • Willingness to engage in continuous learning and training
