Job Summary:

This position supports the Home Base Rental Assistance Program to prevent evictions and homelessness in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This program provides rental help to thousands of eligible households and works with landlords and tenants to resolve outstanding rental debt. Major areas of focus include reviewing tenant rent applications for eligibility, customer service, administrative duties, and supporting outreach efforts for clients. This is a time limited position based on grant funding. The position is expected to end February 28, 2023, with the possibility of extension for 6-18 months.

The compensation for this position is $26.36 per hour. Applications will be reviewed and interviews held on a rolling basis until all Rental Assistance Program Specialist roles are filled.

Essential Duties:

·        Provides higher level support for the development and implementation of the ongoing King County and Seattle Rental Assistance Program.

·        Works closely with Rental Assistance Program Managers and Rental Assistance Program Coordinator to provide program updates. 

·        Reviews tenant rental applications in a timely manner and rolling basis for program eligibility and documentation compliance. Process around 20 applications per week.

·        Leads program customer service tactics to assist tenants with application process by using phone/text, email, and/or written communication. Communicates quickly and effectively with tenants and landlords regarding program guidelines, application status, and payment status.

·        Lead weekly technical assistance and training meetings across nine Home Base partners to provide ongoing support to their teams.

·        Gathers all necessary documentation and information to evaluate client eligibility for rental assistance, ensuring eligibility and compliance.

·        Collaborates with Home Base partners and fellow Rental Assistance Program Specialist on process improvements and to strengthen racial equity outcomes.

·        Support finance process in collaboration with internal Accounting Team to ensure timely process of rent payments on a weekly basis.

·        Provides timely and accurate updates on client data and landlord data in program database for program staff.

·        Support program administration work for grant quarterly reporting and other related duties as assigned.

·        Ability to learn new technology and navigate confidential information systems.

·        Proven strong ability to multi-task and utilize effective time management skills.

·        Demonstrated experience leveraging new technology, social media, and other tools on a daily basis.

·        Proven excellent organizational and follow-through skills in a fast-paced environment.

·        Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills.

·        Proven ability to learn new technology and navigate confidential information systems.

·        Demonstrated understanding of social justice and racial equity, and committed to applying racial and economic justice lenses in both personal and workplace context.

·        Lived experience or demonstrated professional skills working with a diverse work environment.

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree preferred. Two (2) years’ experience in office administration, community outreach, case management, and program/project support are highly desirable. Previous case management experience desired. Ability to speak other languages desired.
