Social Worker- JASAChat, Information and Case Assistance

General Responsibilities

The Social Worker at JASAChat will have primary responsibility for supporting client and

volunteer matches enrolled in our virtual visiting program which aims to decrease social

isolation and loneliness. The social worker will ensure that matches are mutually beneficial and

satisfying to all participants. The social worker will also provide case assistance to clients

enrolled in the program and follow-up on needs identified throughout their participation in this

program. The social worker will work collaboratively with the program staff and JASA’s

development team to ensure optimal experiences for volunteers and program participants. The

social worker will partner with service providers across the agency to enroll, match, and support

clients in JASAChat.

Primary Responsibilities

● Outreach to JASA service providers to refer clients to JASAChat.

● Engage, enroll and provide case assistance to JASA client participants.

● Conduct pre and post surveys to client participants.

● Plan and facilitate client orientations and volunteer trainings.

● Support matches by providing technical assistance, mediation, and resources.

● Document match records in electronic client record system.

● Engage and support multigenerational volunteers.

● Plan and facilitate match engagement events and projects.

● Represent the program at internal and external events, becoming the spokesperson for

its value, need, and success

● Perform other tasks as requested or assigned

Qualifications

● MSW degree from an accredited university preferred; a bachelors degree is required

● Professional experience relevant to working with an older adult population and program

development

● Desire and ability to work collaboratively as part of a committed, integrated team

● Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively and

concisely (both in writing and orally)

● Professional maturity, good judgment and ability to engage with others

● Strong commitment to JASA’s mission

● Basic computer skills; familiarity with an electronic client record system preferred

● Ability to travel using mass transit

● An understanding and appreciation of the roles of race, religion, ethnicity, sexual

preference, and individual values as they relate to serving clients
