Summary of Position:

SitStayRead is working to become an anti-racist organization. The Development Director will be a member of the leadership team who will be key in making this possible. The Development Director is passionate about literacy as a social justice issue and will be  instrumental in  beginning to move SitStayRead towards a community centric fundraising approach. The Development Director will work directly with the Executive Director to resource the organization’s budget of $775,000 and will be responsible for a diverse  portfolio of annual fund, foundation and corporate, and event revenue.

Essential Functions:

  • Create and establish a community centric strategy by integrating race, equity, and social justice into the organization’s fundraising 
  • Develop and execute SitStayRead’s annual fundraising plan 
  • Secure financial support from individuals, foundations, and corporations
  • Manage  Salesforce, data entry, and gift processing
  • Oversee organization of special events
  • Develop and track proposals and reports for all foundation and corporate fundraising
  • Serve as the staff liaison to the Associate Board, oversee their fundraising activities, and actively work to recruit new members
  • Participate in the annual  budgeting process

Qualifications:

  • Proven Success in Development: Knowledge of various fundraising strategies and a successful track record of meeting or exceeding fundraising goals
  • Community Centric Approach: Philosophical and professional belief that fundraising is grounded in racial and economic justice
  • Relationship Building: Skilled at establishing and cultivating strong relationships with peers, both across the organization and externally
  • Project Leadership: Experience in planning, leading, and managing development projects, including coordinating with peers to achieve desired outcomes, and tracking and reporting on progress to board of directors
  • Communications: Skilled in creating powerful, compelling written and oral communications centered on the students, schools, and communities SitStayRead serves; ability to convey complex ideas through brief, simple materials; experience and credibility when presenting materials to external audiences
  • Collaboration: Effective at working with others to reach common goals and objectives

Position Details:

  • Full time, 40 hours per week
  • Schedule: Typical work week follows a M-F 9:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. schedule, with flexibility in start/end times and work from home options available.
  • We are currently operating remotely until we feel we can return to in-person operations safely. We will support our staff with any needs they may have to make remote work possible, including more flexible working hours, and are working with staff to develop an office reopening plan that feels safe for everyone.
  • Salary: $50,000 - $60,000
