The Confidential People Services Coordinator serves in a confidential capacity to those in DSA management responsible for deciding and executing DSA’s 

policies, strategies, programs and positions with respect to labor relations, collective bargaining, HR, personnel and employee relations, and maintains the confidentiality of all information and documents relating to those matters. This confidential employee position works closely with and reports directly to DSA’s Operations Director. Among other duties, the Confidential People Services Coordinator administers and facilitates the hiring, onboarding, and benefits processes for all staff across geographies. 

 

Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Administers health and welfare plans, including enrollments, changes and terminations. Processes required documents through insurance providers to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions. 
  • Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions about benefits and other employment logistics. 
  • Completes Forms I-9, verifies I-9 documentation and maintains I-9 files. 
  • Reconciles benefits statements. 
  • Conducts audits of benefits or other HR programs and recommends improvements. 
  • Assists with administration of employee off boarding. 
  • Assists with the preparation of the performance review process. 
  • Assists with the recruitment and interview process. Tracks status of candidates and responds with follow-up letters at the end of the recruiting process. 
  • Schedules meetings and interviews as requested by the Operations Director. 
  • Maintains the confidentiality of all information and documents relating to DSA’s operations, including Management policies, strategies, programs and positions with respect to labor relations, collective bargaining, HR, personnel and employee relations 
  • Handles administrative and clerical functions relating to their responsibilities. 
  • Prepares new-employee files and appropriately files and maintains HR and personnel documents. 
  • Handles other administrative tasks relating to their responsibilities. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications 

  • 1 to 2 years experience in human resources or related field. 
  • Working understanding of human resource principles, practices and procedures. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to thrive in a fast-paced, detail- oriented environment. 
  • Demonstrated ability to protect and maintain confidentiality. 
  • A firm grasp of the political environment in which DSA operates and a demonstrated commitment to building socialism within our time. 

 

Reports to: Operations Director 

 

Work Schedule: Full-time. Work hours will fluctuate according to campaign needs and members’ availability. 

 

Location: New York, NY (work is mostly remote currently due to the COVID crisis, with occasional trips to the office to work with our personnel files) 

 

Salary: $52K non-exempt in first year with scheduled 2K raises in 2022 and 2023.
