Thanks to the support of individuals, local youth groups, churches, businesses, organizations, school districts, governmental agencies and all of our wonderful volunteers, we are able to combat hunger and need in our community. The Maple Valley Food Bank not only provides high quality and nutritious food, we also provide our clients with emergency financial assistance for eviction prevention, energy assistance, and other valuable programs that help to prevent homelessness. The faces of hunger will surprise you; those we serve may be in a crisis situation due to medical cost, poor health, job loss, disability, mental health issues, abandonment by a spouse or partner, abusive situations, delinquency of child support payments, seniors living on fixed incomes, low income wages, and the newly unemployed. Job Summary

The essential roles of the Program & Volunteer Coordinator at the Maple Valley Food Bank include, but are not limited to the following: Planning, coordinating and leading internal food bank events and programs for clients, recruiting, training and leading volunteers through our volunteer engagement strategy; collaboration with Community Manager, and implementing and maintaining a donor care system.  We are looking for a self-starting, motivated person who is extremely detail oriented, excels at inter-personal relations and will be innovative and interested in making suggestions for positive improvement.

Experience and Education 

  • High School graduate or GED
  • Two years of higher education or applicable work experience
  • Proficient in computer skills including Word, Access, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, Outlook, QuickBooks, basic photography skills, Facebook, Web site maintenance
  • Experience in public speaking required
  • Ability to operate all office equipment
  • Must be able to effectively communicate and work with donors, clients, volunteers and fellow employees
  • Must have reliable personal transportation and provide proof of a valid Washington State Driver’s License
  • May be required to drive a company vehicle and be insurable.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal history background check.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Directs, coordinates and delegates programs and events

o   Christmas gift program

o   Back pack program

o   Food drives

o   Fund raising events

o   Community events

o   Volunteer appreciation events

Coordinates volunteer program

o   Provides recruitment, onboarding, orientation and training as needed for all volunteers

o   Coordinates with staff to ensure all needed volunteer positions are filled

o   Coordinates with Warehouse Coordinator to utilize community service workers

o   Engages community groups for volunteer opportunities

Maintains accurate records and planning systems

o   Volunteer data

o   Annual planning calendar

o   Drive and event totals recording

Coordinates closely with the Community Manager to provide internal support and assistance

o   Supports efforts with community organizations and businesses

  • School district food drives, pep rallies, awards

Assists with and supplies data to maintain our social strategy program

o   Website updates

o   Instagram / Twitter / Snap Chat

  • Responsible for creating and producing various informational flyers for electronic or hard copy distribution
  • Direct and coordinate donor program

Deposit, track and record donor contributions
