The Manager of Volunteer Services organizes and implements a complete volunteer service program including planning, recruitment, training and coordination. The position serves as the primary contact for volunteers and staff who will be directly supervising them. The Manager will work to enable the organization's growing volunteer program in attaining "Service Enterprise" certification, and incorporating volunteer participation and engagement as a core strategic function to accomplish Selfhelp’s mission. Responsibilities include leading the program planning efforts, identifying work throughout the organization that can be accomplished by volunteers, and promoting their services.
A Master's degree (M.S.) in Human Resources or equivalent is strongly preferred; four to ten years related experience and/or training are required. Will consider Bachelor degree with extensive related work experience and training. BA plus 5-7 years of related experience with volunteer services.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Prior work experience with seniors and human services organization a plus. Fluency or familiarity with Mandarin (Cantonese) or Russian preferred. Computer literate.
Must be able to travel in NYC; May be required to work occasional overtime.
