BILINGUAL PROGRAM COORDINATOR – THE MEMORY PROJECT SPEAKERS BUREAU

Historica Canada’s Bilingual Program Coordinator for the Memory Project Speakers Bureau will be an individual who has experience working with a team to achieve deliverables in a timely fashion. The successful candidate will be a strong communicator, and someone who is enthusiastic about sharing the stories of Canada’s veterans. Please mention summer in your cover letter. The successful candidate is organized, results-oriented, and flexible. This position reports to the Program Manager.



The responsibilities of the Program Coordinator include:

·      Support and motivate a team of staff, who report to the Manager of Programs and Education;

·      Works with a team to plan and execute strategy for programming during the Remembrance Day season;

·      Lead on the facilitation of visit requests for classrooms, youth groups, community groups, etc., meeting nation-wide demand for volunteer speakers throughout the coordination of an extensive database of volunteers;

·      Coordinates the creation of all program deliverables, including learning tools, video projects, and speaker kits (with Program Manager);

·      Liaise with external production companies for the creation of commemorative video projects;

·      Under the supervision of the Web and Digital Media Manager, coordinates website updates and of Salesforce integration;

·      Responsible (with the team) for the creation and distribution of all promotional materials, including advertisements, Mailchimps, targeted e-blasts, and social media campaigns;

·      Identify new partnerships within the veteran community to encourage new veterans from various conflicts to become speakers;

·      Conduct outreach to school boards, classrooms, libraries, community groups and other potential partners to encourage them to book a speaker;

·      Continue to develop a strong social media presence across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other appropriate platforms;

·      Responsible for day-to-day monitoring of budget and expenditures;

·      Support program manager in the operations of the program;

·      Maintain positive relationships with national volunteers and program partners;

·      Completing required reporting for program funders;

·      Occasional evening or weekend work and/or overnight travel may be required (when safe to do so);

·      Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

·    A completed degree in History or a related field, English/French or Communications, Public History or Museum Studies, Education or other relevant education and experience

·    Bilingual (English and French) mandatory

·    Strong organizational, communication and people skills required

·    Previous project coordination experience required

·    Minimum 3-4 years professional working experience

·    Experience working in the non-profit, education, or museum sector

·    Experience with online video/meeting platforms an asset (e.g., Zoom, Google Meet, etc.)

·    Experience in video production or learning tool/educational resources creation an asset

·    Outreach experience an asset

·    Budgeting and/or reporting experience an asset

·    Team player and demonstrated strong leadership and interpersonal skills

·    Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment

·    Adaptable to change

·    Experience in working with a multi-disciplinary team 

·    Strong knowledge of Canadian history and an appreciation for Canada


This is a contract position beginning September 15, 2021, and ending March 31, 2023, with the possibility of renewal. The annual salary will be $50,000, less applicable statutory deductions, which will be paid to you twice a month.

This position is based at Historica Canada’s Head Office in Toronto. However, qualified distance candidates will be considered. Please note: all of Historica Canada’s team is currently working remotely. Once it is deemed safe and advisable to do so by the City’s public health authorities, and in accordance with Historica Canada’s Remote Work Policy, staff may choose to work from the office, or continue to work remotely.

 When Covid-19 public health guidelines allow for it, this position may require travel (air and ground) within Canada and subject to government safety protocols.
