The Senior Manager, Outreach and Research Administration, is a full-time position with these responsibilities:

  • Administrator of the extramural research grants process at 55% FTE
  • Project Officer for Celebremos la Vida and Campeonas contra el cáncer del seno at 35% FTE
  • Other projects as assigned at 10% FTE

Core responsibilities: For Research Administration, the Senior Manager administers the program in extramural research for grants totaling about $1.8 million. Responsibilities include managing the annual award cycle from application through post-award follow-up; maintaining Internet-based grant management; providing professional support to annual scientific review meetings; using the database to identify trends and answer inquiries about funded research; developing and implementing web-based surveys; writing reports and disseminating information to other divisions at the Foundation; trouble-shooting researcher and database issues; and maintaining communication within the Foundation, with co-chairs and members of the external research panel and with prospective and funded researchers and their institutions. 

For Outreach, the Senior Manager manages the Celebremos la Vida program (and the related project Campeonas contra el cáncer del seno) for Hispanic women over 40 in three clinic sites, is involved in strategic planning for the program, tracks timelines and budgets, troubleshoots issues between the Foundation as funder and the community clinic sites and liases with the development division to prepare funding proposals. 

For both functions, the Senior Manager reconciles fiscal year-end spending and metrics on both research and community grants and helps to “tell the story” of the Foundation’s support for cancer prevention and early detection research and outreach. The Senior Manager maintains program-related website content and also serves as division representative on cross-unit core teams. Other projects may be assigned that are related to health disparities or other themes.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree preferred. Three to five years of related professional experience. Knowledge of public health and prevention issues, experience managing an online database.

Skills: Superior verbal and written communication; comfortable working with databases; strong initiative and follow-through; and excellent organizational, time-management, problem-solving and interpersonal skills. Cultural familiarity and conversational ability in Spanish strongly preferred.

Salary is $64,500
