The Cricket Island Foundation (CIF) is a family foundation dedicated to advancing the field of youth-led social change. CIF’s mission is to develop the capacity and commitment of young people to improve their lives and communities, as well as the world around them. CIF supports organizations that offer meaningful opportunities for youth to contribute to positive social change. CIF currently supports 20+ youth organizations (grantees) across the country that use arts, media, and youth organizing to empower young people to become leaders in their communities. 

Position Description

The Program and Operations Assistant will work closely with a small team, including the Program Officer and Executive Director, in the following areas:

Office Operations: Assistant will manage office operations and will help schedule meetings, maintain finance and administrative files, manage the archival process, purchase office supplies, monitor general email and voice mail box and distribute messages to appropriate staff, maintain the Operations Manual, and liaise with building management. The Assistant will serve as a liaison to vendors and work with ED to initiate research of new vendors as needed.

Grants Management: Assistant will support staff in preparing grantmaking materials for Board meetings, funding partners, and grantees. The Assistant will also maintain Foundant records, prepare grant award letters/ contracts, and conduct additional grants administration support as needed.

Board Management: Assistant will support the preparation for and coordination of annual Board meetings.

Communications Support: Assistant will support communication efforts, including updating the website and managing social media. 


Candidate must be extremely detail-oriented and organized with outstanding communication (written and verbal), and computer skills. Knowledge of, and commitment to, philanthropy and youth development and/or youth organizing is preferred, but not required. Candidate must commit to working 2-3 days/15-20 hours per week. Some work can be done remotely.  


The position pays $20 per hour. Opportunities include trainings in grantmaking and general learning about the field of philanthropy.
