Job Description

Are you passionate and knowledgeable about gardening, farming and/or cooking. Are you passionate about healthy eating, an innovative, energetic, results-oriented, tech-savvy communicator and educator?

Can you make a garden come alive with delicious food? Can you go toe-to-toe with an eight-year old and excite them about fresh vegetables? Can you inspire cynical adults to change their dining habits? Consider joining our Houston based, nationally recognized, award-winning non-profit organization. We are expanding our team of dedicated professionals who work to reverse the epidemic of childhood obesity with programs that teach, inspire and empower healthy eating, intent on creating a world where healthy food is shared, appreciated and celebrated.

You will be: A trained food gardener or cook; a talented teacher for all ages—especially young children; exceptional communicator and team player; dedicated to achieving results; ready to love your job and work with the most dedicated crew on earth!

Our paid training involves web-based coursework and certification and on the job training in classroom. Certified Instructors teach gardening and cooking classes on campus during school days, and at Hope Farms during the day, after school and on weekends; they mentor wellness programs in elementary schools, support our community gardeners at a Hope Farms, demonstrate Cook the Harvest recipes at our farm market, and inspire a culture of health throughout the community. This team member is also responsible for capturing magical moments in photos and producing blog posts about activities in our classrooms.

This is a part time position that might over time lead to fulltime; salary and benefits commensurate with experience and education. Main office of the Foundation is in Houston’s Museum District and Hope Farms is just south of the Loop 610. Our two showcase schools are in the Museum District and Gulfton. Dependable transportation is required. More information about the organization may be found at www.recipe4success.org

If you are interested, please submit a cover letter—describing your gardening and cooking knowledge, why you would be a perfect fit for us, along with your resume and three references. We request this in addition to completion of the online interview. Only candidates who satisfy all submission requirements will be considered.
