Silver Music, located at 72nd and Broadway and in Morningside Heights, is looking for creative and experienced early childhood music teachers with Suzuki string training (violin, viola, cello, or guitar) to join our Faculty. Suzuki training or experience, Music Together training or experience, and/or Dalcroze training STRONGLY preferred. The ideal candidate is comfortable singing, passionate about working with young children (ages 0-5), and enjoys connecting with both children and families through musical discovery and growth. Musicians who are comfortable with improvisation and alternative music styles are also encouraged to apply. Prospective teachers will be asked to observe a current introductory class and teach a small portion of a class as well.
Silver Music is a community music school encouraging every child's early and sustained love of music. We work with each child's unique temperament and interests to foster a connection and commitment to music exploration, leading naturally to serious study of an instrument. Our teachers engage children in small, introductory group music classes which include hands-on experiences with violin, viola, cello, piano, and flute. A Suzuki instrumental program, chamber music groups, adult classes, and summer and vacation camps fill our school with musicians of all levels. Our community events, recitals, festivals, family concerts, parent discussions, and outreach concerts bring music into the lives of our families and our community. We have two locations at 218 W 72nd St, and 45 Tiemann Place.
