J-PAL North America, based at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, seeks a Program Coordinator to contribute to its mission to reduce poverty by ensuring that policy is informed by scientific evidence. We seek applicants from diverse backgrounds and especially welcome applicants with backgrounds that have been historically underrepresented in the field of economics.

The Program Coordinator will coordinate and perform day-to-day operational activities for J-PAL’s research, policy and training programs, including a broad range of administration, finance, information technology, compliance, communications and outreach, and other functions. As a Program Coordinator, your primary tasks will involve coordinating policy funding initiatives to support randomized evaluations, coordinating subaward agreements, tracking key metrics and reporting. Candidates should have strong project management skills, solid verbal and written communication skills, and precise attention to detail.

Responsibilities

Operations (60%):

Coordinates policy funding initiatives to support randomized evaluations, including managing a timeline for regular Requests for Proposals (RFPs), maintaining updated funding initiative manuals and materials, and tracking proposal and contact information in Salesforce. Coordinates subaward agreements funded through J-PAL NA’s RFP rounds. Establishes agreements between MIT and sub-awardee institutions for projects that require institutional review board approval. Tracks and provides project management support for data use and other agreements as needed. Manages initiative listservs. Creates documentation and trains policy staff on processes for initiative management. Serves as a liaison to J-PAL Global for initiative knowledge management collaborations and systems development. Performs other duties as assigned.

Data Analysis (40%):

Creates and manages Salesforce reports and dashboards that track progress toward grant deliverables. Collects annual and final reports from sub-awardees and creates reports for internal and external stakeholders. Reviews submitted proposal budgets for compliance with guidelines. Tracks and monitors the spending of sub-awardees and processes invoices and expense reports. Processes expense and travel reimbursements for project development grants. Maintains tracking systems for contracts and reimbursements.

Qualifications

Education: You have a bachelor’s degree. 

Experience: You have 2 years of relevant administrative and/or project management experience, which may include experience gained through a combination of full-time work, part-time work and/or internships.

Skills: Technical proficiency with learning and using computer applications, including Excel, Salesforce, Dropbox, Google Drive and other platforms. Strong writing skills and ability to communicate clearly with multiple parties.

Organization: Ability to anticipate, plan, prioritize and meet deadlines, manage multiple tasks, manage numerous requests from various parties, and effectively manage a high volume of work.

Attention to Detail: Strong ability to manage a time-sensitive workflow while maintaining absolute accuracy with details.

Responsibility and Trust: Tact and good judgement in handling confidential information and in liaising with external partners.
