The Associate Director of Scientific Research will play a vital role in the Beyond Celiac Coalition, clinical trial recruitment and Beyond Celiac research initiatives, under the supervision of the Senior Director. This position is designed for a highly organized, proactive individual with previous research-related experience, with a proven track record of leading projects and working independently. The Associate Director will work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Beyond Celiac Coalition:
- Manage operations of the Beyond Celiac Coalition in collaboration with the Senior Director of Coalition & Patient Engagement, CSO and Director of Corporate Partnerships. The role includes organizing meetings, developing agendas, managing logistics, and supporting communication efforts.
- Create Coalition initiatives that target challenges in diagnosis and treatment of celiac disease in collaboration with Senior Director of Coalition & Patient Engagement, CSO and Beyond Celiac Coalition members. Manage and lead projects independently and collaboratively, as appropriate.
- Act as a point of contact for member questions and provide assistance with coalition-related activities.
- Clinical Trial Recruitment Projects:
- Collaboratively lead clinical trial recruitment projects with the Senior Director of Coalition & Patient Engagement and the Director of Corporate Partnerships. Work with Sponsors and the Communications team to ensure recruitment strategies are carried out effectively and recruitment strategies are meeting the needs of the trial.
- Participate in meetings with prospective recruitment partners to pitch our recruitment services, work collaboratively to create proposals in line with their needs and our capabilities, and respond to follow up questions as appropriate.
- Conduct prescreening of potential clinical trial participants, regularly communicate with clinical trial sites, and track and report on recruitment progress. Provide regular updates to all involved internal and external stakeholders and participate in regular meetings with partners to report on progress.
- Research Project Coordination and Analysis:
- Plan, develop, and execute Beyond Celiac research projects and initiatives in collaboration with members of the Science Team.
- Co-author research articles, abstracts, and presentations for dissemination to academic, scientific, and patient communities.
- Conduct statistical analysis for quantitative research projects, including developing statistical plans, performing advanced statistical analysis (e.g. predictive modeling, logistic regression, survival analysis), interpreting findings and presenting results effectively to the intended audience.
- Events and Meeting Coordination:
- Plan and execute events and meetings, including Research Summits, in person Coalition meetings and other key initiatives, by coordinating with speakers and vendors, managing attendee lists, and helping with set up and take down as needed in collaboration with members of the Science Team.
- Other Duties as Assigned:
- Undertake any other tasks or responsibilities related to the success of the Beyond Celiac Coalition and research initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education:
- Master’s Degree preferred
- At a minimum a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field (e.g., Public Health, Life Sciences, or a related discipline).
- Experience:
- At least 4-6 years of experience in research-related activities including some leadership experience. Research experience should include data collection and analysis, preferably in a healthcare, non-profit, or clinical research setting. Familiarity with Qualtrics for survey deployment is a plus.
- Understanding of human subjects research and IRB requirements.
- Familiarity with the dynamics of coalition-building, stakeholder engagement, and clinical trials is a plus.
- Skills:
- Leadership capabilities especially when communicating with leaders in industry and academia.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in statistical software (e.g., R, SPSS, SAS, Stata) and qualitative tools (e.g., NVivo, AtlasTI).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.

Logistics
This is a full-time, remote position with benefits. Occasional travel (3-4 trips per year) may be required for meetings, conferences, and events.
