Salary

$62,500 - $68,000
Commensurate with with experience.


Street Sense Media (SSM) is an evolving, mid-size, non-profit media company committed to ending chronic homelessness by providing economic opportunities and powerful forms of self-expression to men and woman living in extreme poverty. We work in a collaborative, dynamic and collegial environment for and with the people the organization serves. We work in partnership with other organizations to advance and achieve our mission.

The Director of Programs will manage all (non-editorial) programming and day to operations of the organization. S/he will work closely with the Executive Director to build a mission driven team, strengthen existing partnerships, identify and explore new partnerships and strengthen the overall capacity of the organization to ensure mission achievement.

The Director of Programs will help lead and work in close collaboration with other senior staff, including the Director of Case Management, Editorial Director and Director of Development. S/he will also help manage the organization’s emerging Advocacy and Community Organizing Project.

Pre-requisites and Required Skills

·        College or advanced degree required

·        Professional non-profit experience required

·        10 or more years of executive or senior management experience in the field of human services

·        Demonstrated commitment to ending chronic homelessness and/or addressing extreme poverty and/or civil rights

·        Track record of building and managing successful staffing teams of paid and unpaid (volunteer/intern) personnel

·        Program design, implementation, evaluation and improvement

·        Exceptional written and oral communication skills

·        Experience developing and managing project budgets

·        Public speaking

Goals

Across the following function areas, identify and replicate best practices, identify efficiencies and build and manage teams and systems to improve overall organization-wide performance toward greater mission impact.

Programs

Oversee the following direct service programs

  • newspaper sales and distribution
  • media arts programs and performance events
  •  advocacy and community organizing


Finance

·        Managing established protocol for point of sale for earned income lines (ie newspaper sales and vendor art/media)

Human Resources

·        Internal communications

·        Payroll management

·        Benefits Management

·        Staff (paid, volunteer, intern) recruitment, orientation, training, evaluation and support

Operations

·        IT and Communications Technology

·        Office supplies

·        Interior space design

·        Office equipment
