The Program Director will be a member of the leadership team who oversees all aspects relating to the implementation of school and community  programs, as well as the development of new curricula. The Program Director is passionate about literacy as a social justice issue and will be instrumental in beginning to move SitStayRead more deeply towards a student centric programmatic approach. The Program Director will work closely with leadership to set strategic goals that will ensure SitStayRead’s continued programmatic excellence and support the long-term vision of the organization.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead the program staff in programmatic vision,  innovation, and  creativity across both the  in-person and remote learning curricula with an eye toward bringing the best SitStayRead can offer to all students
  • Supervise, manage, and collaborate with  program staff to coordinate all aspects of program logistics including schedule maintenance, program delivery, and communication with teachers and program partners
  • Manage program application process including:  fielding requests for programs, interviewing program applicants, conducting partner site visits, determining school and community partners and number of classes available each year, drafting and executing program agreements, and establishing  and maintaining relationships with new and existing school and community center administration and teachers
  • Lead SitStayRead programs in classrooms
  • Oversee the CPS Vendor process and ensure that SitStayRead is adhering to all CPS policies
  • Manage evaluation of all curricula and ensure programs are delivered with fidelity and integrity
  • Use the Salesforce CRM, UpMetrics, and other data collectors to track vital program and organizational information
  • Oversee the volunteer department in collaboration with the Development Director, serving as the supervisor for the Volunteer Coordinator
  • Support Executive Director and development staff in all fundraising and marketing efforts including events, grants, and media opportunities
  • Participate in strategic planning and annual budgeting process
  • Champion organizational DEIAA commitments

Qualifications:

  • Proven Success in Program Management & Curriculum Development:  Experience working with K-3rd grade students; Knowledge of childhood development, trauma-informed teaching, antiracist classroom practices, and program evaluation; has a successful track record seeing projects through from conception to completion
  • Student Centric Approach: Philosophical and professional belief that literacy is a social justice issue; commitment to centering the student experience in all aspects of programming
  • Technical Proficiencies:  Skilled in Google Business Platform; comfortable with Salesforce CRM (or similar database); confident learning new technology to foster process efficiencies and program development
  • Communications: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to easily tailor communication style for various audiences including children, teammates, volunteers, partner teachers, administrators, and external audiences; ability to listen to and process verbal and written information from various sources
  • Collaboration: Experience effectively managing a team; excels at working with others to reach common goals and objectives; able to prioritize and delegate effectively

Benefits

Position Details:

  • Full time, 40 hours per week
  • Schedule: Typical work week follows a M-F 9:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. schedule, with flexibility in start/end times and work from home options available.
  • We are currently operating remotely until we feel we can return to in-person operations safely. We will support our staff with any needs they may have to make remote work possible, including more flexible working hours, and are working with staff to develop an office reopening plan that feels safe for everyone.
  • Because this position requires regular transit to schools across the City of Chicago, ideal candidates will have reliable transportation.
  • Must pass CPS background check
  • Must be able to provide proof of complete COVID-19 vaccination unless a medical or religious exemption applies. If unvaccinated due to a medical or religious exemption, must complete weekly COVID-19 testing provided by SitStayRead.
  • Salary: $50,000 - $60,000
