Housing & Services, Inc. is seeking a full-time Socialization Coordinator for our Kenmore Hall. Our mission is to solve housing crises for all New Yorkers through permanent, cost-effective solutions. We provide hope and stability to individuals and families living with medical and emotional disabilities in safe and nurturing environments, empowering our residents to live as independently and crisis-free as possible in our four residential programs: The Cecil, Kenmore Hall, The Narragansett, and Scattered Site Housing.

Kenmore Hall is a 325 unit supportive housing facility located in the Flat Iron District, and is home to a diverse population including formerly homeless men and women, the elderly and medically frail, people struggling with addiction, veterans, those living with mental illness, and many with co-occurring diagnosis. Kenmore has a social service team of twelve full time staff, daily socialization programming, entitlement support staff, 24-hour front desk, on-site psychiatric services, and more.

Responsibilities: The Socialization Coordinator is responsible for communicating regularly with the Kenmore tenants in order to solicit their ideas and opinions regarding recreational activities/events they would like to attend; research venues, admission prices and procedures for possible activities/events; research and write letters to various agencies, organizations, and corporations in order to request ticket donations and discounted admission prices; develop working relationships with contacts at cooperating agencies, organizations, and corporations and provide documentation to Program Manager. The Socialization Coordinator will develop and maintain a list of agencies, organizations, and corporations offering free activities/events; establish and maintain good working relationships with contacts; submit proposals and/or recommendations to the Program Manager for possible activities/event at least two months in advance (whenever possible); schedule no less than two recreational activities/events per month, in coordination with the Program Manager; submit check requests to the Program Manager and/or coordinate payment with our Central Office for ticket purchases; confirm all arrangements made and inform the Director of admission procedures; create, distribute, and post flyers regarding scheduled activities at least two weeks prior to date of activity/event; coordinate client sign-up for and verbally advertise activities/events scheduled so as to maximize participation; coordinate round-trip transportation for clients to activities/events scheduled; obtain feedback from clients regarding activities/events attended and perform other duties as assigned by Program Manager.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required. Must be a self-starter, energetic and outgoing. Experience working in a social service setting preferred. Good oral and written communication skills, computer and internet proficiency a must. Knowledge of AWARDS/HMIS database preferred. Experience working with people with HIV/AIDS; mental illness; addiction; and physical disabilities. Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred. A valid driver's license is required for this position.
