Its participants can be seen cleaning 150 miles of NYC streets and sidewalks each day in paid transitional jobs that represent the core of the program. With a $50 million budget, over 400 staff members and 46,000 individual donors, TDF is nationally acclaimed as a work-based model for solving homelessness and criminal recidivism. 

We are currently seeking a Leasing and Compliance Specialist to perform a wide variety of tasks related to Property Management. The Leasing and Compliance Specialist is responsible for the ongoing lease management and compliance requirements of the organization’s owned or managed property. This position will be working out of our Upper East Side location and will report into the Director of Property Management. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lease renewal management, including working with the real estate admin to ensure all renewals are being sent out and returned in a timely fashion. 
  • Provide assistance in audit preparation
  • Main point of contact for tenants, responding to questions or concerns regarding lease/recertifications
  • Perform LIHTC and Section 8 income certifications upon move in and annually as required thereafter
  • Ensures compliance with tenant income and rent restrictions imposed by regulatory agreements and partnership agreements
  • Prepare and maintain tenant records

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Associates/Bachelors in business administration, finance, real estate or similar preferred
  • LIHTC training/certified by Novogradac or Quadel preferred

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in leasing in the affordable housing industry. 
  • Knowledge of LIHTC, HPD, NYCHA, HOME compliance a must.
  • Strong analytical ability and creative problem solving skills.
  • Strong computer skills; thorough knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and is required. Yardi experience is strongly preferred
  • Section 8 and HOME experience preferred
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to coordinate complex activities, prioritize conflicting demands and meet deadlines
  • Incumbent is expected to demonstrate strong ethics in interpersonal relations and work as an effective, collaborative team member
