HMIS Project Director – Job description 2021

Job Description:  The Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) Project Director is responsible for managing a statewide database that keeps track of the services received by people experiencing homelessness, the needs for housing for those still homeless and outcomes. This is a full-time work from home position based in the Santa Fe office of NMCEH. The HMIS Project Director reports to the NMCEH Associate Director.

Responsibilities:

  • General management and performance of the HMIS project statewide, including contract management with the HMIS software vendor and government funding organizations;
  • Management of the 2021 process to select new software vendor;
  • Supervision of four other HMIS staff members;
  • Management of report preparation and submission, including required U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development system performance reports and report requests from other partners;
  • Regular review, update, and implementation of HMIS policies and procedures;
  • Communication with the vendor about HMIS functionality and development.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred. Additional experience can substitute for degree;
  • 2 years’ experience working with an HMIS or similar database;
  • Experience managing complex projects and leading a team;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, and an ability to work well with people;
  • New Mexico resident with ability to attend frequent meetings in Santa Fe.

Compensation: $55,000 per year plus health, dental, vision, paid vacation and retirement plan
