Panthera is seeking a fundraiser with experience securing five- and six-figure gifts from individual and foundation donors. Reporting to the Director, Business Development & Grants , this position will be a key member of the organization’s development team and manage a portfolio of donors and prospects and cultivate new relationships. The Business Development Department consists of a vibrant team of committed professionals responsible for growing significant individual gifts to $20 million annually in the next 3 to 5 years. The Major Gifts Development Officer is expected to grow gifts at the $20,000 and greater level, including identifying, cultivating, and soliciting donors in support of Panthera’s mission.
The Major Gifts Development Officer will be a central member of Panthera’s fundraising team. Working collaboratively with a wide array of professional and volunteer leaders, this position will manage a robust portfolio of 100+ current and potential donors. A successful candidate will have a passion for our mission and a track record of developing and executing strategies to solicit and close five- and fix-figure gifts. The Major Gifts Officer will personally manage a high-value portfolio of donors with the capacity to give at the 5-, 6-, and 7- figure levels and work directly with Panthera leadership.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Demonstrate passion for and be able to articulate Panthera’s mission and goals to donors
· Actively manage a portfolio of ~100 current donors giving between $20,000-$100,000 as well as prospects who have the capacity to give within that range.
· Establish and maintain strong personal relationships through cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.
· Solicit gifts directly and prepare other senior colleagues, including leadership, for solicitations.
· Work in partnership with leadership to identify, solicit, and steward donors and prospects.
· Work collaboratively with Business Development, CEO, and program colleagues.
· Create, plan, implement, and staff events and/or special projects in support of fundraising priorities and leadership engagement.
· Maintain up-to-date awareness of program priorities throughout Panthera
· Performs other duties as required or assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree, Master’s preferred
· Minimum of five years demonstrated experience in front-line fundraising, with an emphasis on unrestricted gifts and donor relations.
· Ability to work independently and effectively with the highest level of donors and senior staff members
· A solid solicitation track record with effective closing skills and a persuasive ability to encourage philanthropic behavior.
· Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a team.
· Ability to handle confidential financial and personal information with discretion
· Advanced computer skills, specifically with Microsoft applications (Excel) and CRM (Salesforce) applications.
· Superior communication, interpersonal, and writing skills.
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Spanish, Portuguese, and French language skills a plus
