Description

Shelter “Rainbow House” Management

  • Responsible for the overall implementation of all operations of a twenty four (24) hour Domestic Violence Shelter facility (“Rainbow House”) and its programs and services
  • Provide strategic direction for the shelter programming
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate Shelter staff, interns, and volunteers Organize case conferences and other supervisory meetings to ensure quality of direct service to shelter residents and clients
  • Manage and address any emergencies, issues, progresses and maintain the safety of the facility at the shelter
  • Provide direct services to the resident clients such as transportation, counseling, and other support groups as needed
  • Monitor and update program and shelter manuals and procedures as needed; administer personnel policies and procedures
  • Be available at all times to staff for support with crisis resolution at the shelter
  • Work with Director of Programs and Administration to prepare and submit program reports (monthly, quarterly, and annual reports) as required by funders as well as any possible grant applications for shelter services
  • Address any maintenance issues of the shelter property and ensure the safe and welcoming environment of the shelter all times
  • Monitor fiscal expenses and analyze fiscal reports on a monthly basis
  • Supervise multiple grant contracts related to the shelter operation (including Federal and local government awards and private source); Ensure all programs meet contractual goals and reporting requirements
  • Ensure that all the bills are paid on-time through Finance Manager
  • Assisting staff in making appropriate referrals and resolving problems which may arise with residents and staff or among residents

Community Outreach & Education

  • Presents as a positive representative of KAFSC and its Rainbow House and acts as a leader within the agency
  • Provides community education and professional training in related to shelter services and KAFSC mission as requested
  • Engage in public speaking and media activities including writing articles for newspapers, magazines, newsletters, websites, etc. as needed
  • Support and participate in agency-wide outreach activities such as rallies, conferences, and various campaigns
  • Attend and participate in coalition or/and external networking meetings

Fundraising & Administration

  • Ensure that all records and documentation are complete, accurate and up-to-date
  • Prepare documents, reports, monthly/daily timesheets, and statistics for all appropriate, program-related activities and submit in a timely manner
  • Participates as member of the management team for the achievement of overall agency goals and attend bi-weekly leadership team meetings
  • Actively participate in bi-weekly staff meetings, annual board/staff retreat, and other fundraising events as appropriate
  • Work with Executive Director and Development team to solicit donations and support from individuals, churches, and other institutions; Provide support to the Development Team with preparing proposals for the development, expansion and continuation of programs at the shelter
  • Manage and support “Friends of Rainbow House” as a fundraising and friend-raising group
  • Carry out other duties as assigned by Executive Director

Knowledge and ability of the following strongly preferred:

  • Understanding clients’ comprehensive circumstances including chronic mental illness
  • Understanding of the homeless population
  • Understanding of and sensitivity to domestic violence, sexual assault issues and trends
  • Social service agencies and programs available in the community
  • Effective interviewing and counseling skills
  • Current immigration and social policies and regulations relevant to shelter clients
  • Maintain confidentiality of records and information
  • Strong management and problem-solving skills, and ability to multi-task

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in Social Work or another related field
  • LMSW or equivalent license required; LCSW strongly preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a human services or nonprofit
  • Minimum 3 years of supervisory/program management experience
  • Strong oral and written communication, time management, and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Korean language strongly preferred
