The Development Director is a key member of the leadership team, coordinating efforts to secure financial support for Sound Outreach’s Mission. This role works to meet fundraising objectives, including managing up to senior leaders and board members regarding major gifts, planning virtual and in-person events, overseeing, and maintaining database, and executing essential donor communications. Manages donor stewardship and solicitation of individual and corporate gifts. This position has primary oversight of donor data management and coordinates with the grant writing and communications contractors and staff.


COMPENSATION PACKAGE

Starting salary range: $60,000-70,000/year, dependent on qualifications.

Benefits (equivalent of about 30% of salary includes comprehensive health care package, matching 403b, vacation/sick days (PTO), and 10 paid holidays.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop strategic fundraising program, including donor research, donor engagement, donor stewardship, donor retention, events, corporate engagement, and grants.
  • Increase donor participation, donor retention, event revenue, and the number and size of gifts from major and corporate donors.
  • Develop an ambassador program to cultivate volunteer fundraising champions. Set up a cultivation calendar and action plan for ambassador program.
  • Implement positive donor recognition, cultivation, and solicitation strategies, including organizing site visits, meetings, and events.
  • Manage grants consultant to write and submit successful grant applications. Review and approve grants before submission. Collaborate to track grant planning, submission and reporting deadlines. Assist in the creation of supplemental documents and/or presentations as required for grant applications, reports and/or awards.
  • Coordinate donor communication with organization’s communications consultant. Through social media, e-newsletter, web and direct communications articulate case for support and connect donors to the impact of their gift, primarily through written communication.
  • Maintain donor tracking system in Salesforce to organize and track individual, corporate, and foundation gifts and donor stewardship. Develop procedures and training guides for donor tracking and use of Salesforce. Work with Salesforce consultant to maintain database to serve the organizations donor tracking and stewardship needs.
  • Track and monitor on monthly basis all deadlines regarding contracts, grants, as well as cooperate and individual donors, ensuring that assigned staff are following through to meet deadlines.

·       Produce reports and dashboards to track progress towards goals.

·       Track stewardship and solicitation tasks to accomplish cultivation plans. Maintain files and records of reports and documents.

·       Produce donation acknowledgments within 48 hours (business days) of receipt of donation.

·       Proofread material generated by staff and consultants. 

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / SKILLS

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • A minimum level of 2 years in Fund development for non-profit. Five years preferred.
  • Demonstrate competence in oral and written communication
  • Must be organized, attentive to detail, and possess a positive, friendly and professional demeanor
  • Must be flexible with changing priorities and able to communicate in a diplomatic and professional manner
  • Computer skills including contact management software (CRM) in a cloud environment as well as office productivity software. Salesforce experience preferred.

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE / SKILLS

  • Highly developed interpersonal skills. Ability to meet people with ease.
  • Strong organizational skills, well-disciplined, able to work under pressure of many priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of development strategies and techniques.
  • Knowledge of donor stewardship process.
  • Knowledge of Salesforce preferred
  • An ability to work independently
