Position Summary: The team supervisor is responsible for managing a team of social workers in their day-to-day implementation of YVLifeSet, a model to address the needs of young people aged 17-21 who are transitioning out of foster care and need individualized skill development and support to transition successfully into adulthood, specifically in obtaining and maintaining safe and suitable housing, continuing their education, learning independent living skills, obtaining and maintaining employment, building support systems, and remaining free from legal involvement. The social workers will implement the YVLife Set Model in participants’ homes and communities and will be based at the Next Generation Center (NGC), a one-stop, multi-service youth center located in the Morrisania section of the South Bronx. NGC’s primary mission is support disconnected youth and those at risk of becoming disconnected as they transition into adulthood.


  • Serve as the direct supervisor for a team of 4 Master’s Level Social Workers.
  • Support and assist the YVLifeSet team
  • Plan, assign, and direct the work of the team
  • Provide clinical leadership and support to the team, including weekly facilitation of group supervision by direct case review
  • Provide training and professional development to team
  • Oversee monthly service plan development
  • Ensure case progress
  • Keep track of program outcomes and write reports for funding sources
  • On call 24/7 to support young adults and the clinical team during crisis situations
  • Provide crisis intervention, as needed
  • Conduct community outreach
  • Involved in recruitment of new participants for program
  • Collaborate with assistant director and director of NGC on staff development interventions
  • Assist with coverage for team members when needed
  • Support team when attending court and in meetings with collateral contacts
  • Conduct field supervision to ensure staff competency and fidelity to YV LifeSet model
  • Involved in hiring and performance management of team
  • Attend professional conferences and trainings, as needed
  • Perform other related duties, as needed


  • Minimum of 5 years leadership experience in social services required
  • Prior clinical experience in child welfare and with adolescents highly desirable
  • Prior supervisory experience required
  • Knowledge about trauma and chronic stress and their effects required
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals, families, and colleagues from a wide range of cultural, social, and economic backgrounds
  • Understanding of Restorative Practices and Motivational Interviewing a plus
  • Desire to work with young people from a strengths-based approach required
  • Ability to be flexible and to work collaboratively with a team in a community environment
  • Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule, including ability to be on call 24/7
  • Must have excellent written and verbal skills
  • Bilingual candidates (Fluency in Spanish) highly encouraged to apply
