Summary

Join a dynamic, committed, creative, small team of core administration based in DC and supporting team members across the Western Hemisphere working to manage and grow two innovative programs that are transforming lives and empowering communities through music. The Strategic Growth and Development Manager works from the organization’s Washington, DC headquarters to execute and grow a multi-million dollar annual international development plan involving a range of individual, foundation, and corporate supporters located across the Americas and beyond. Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the successful candidate will work well in a dynamic, bilingual environment that requires strong communication abilities with a range of stakeholders, creativity and initiative in managing and cultivating donors, an ability to identify and adapt well to evolving needs and opportunities, a high level of organization with attention to detail, and a proficiency in multitasking and prioritizing tasks.

Qualifications

·     Minimum Bachelor’s degree

·     At least three years of relevant professional experience OR an advanced degree in a relevant field of study

·     Experience in a nonprofit/humanitarian organization preferred

·     English fluency (written and spoken), Spanish desirable

·     Ability and willingness to travel globally

·     Microsoft Office proficiency, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint

·     Experience with Adobe Programs (Photoshop, InDesign) preferable

·     Exceptional oral and written communication skills

·     Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail

·     Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments

·     Desire to take initiative on projects

·     Ability to work both independently and as part of a team


Duties & Responsibilities

Development

·     Work closely with Executive Director and Creative Director to support all development functions

·     Maintain the donor database using Excel/Etapestry/Blackbaud

·     Handle all incoming contributions (processing, follow-up, acknowledgements) and handle financial reconciliations with accounting team

·     Handle outgoing and incoming communications with existing and prospective donors

·     Create, implement and manage development campaigns:

o  Annual Match Campaign (October 1 – December 31), and any other campaigns developed

o  Support the sponsorship development, management, and implementation of the Gala

o  Research and cultivate potential partnerships with corporations and individuals

o  Manage grant applications (either through contracted company or applying directly)

o  Facilitate alumni networks and begin cultivating as potential donors

·     Engage the Board, Board Development Committee, and all existing or potential donors with regular communications

·     Organize tour travel experience for donors – work with travel agency.

 

Administration

·     Create Development Committee meeting materials and write minutes

·     Manage mass mailing campaigns

·     Organize and execute holiday mailing

·     Maintain contact database

 

Benefits

·     Salary Range: $45,000-$65,000 with annual performance review and raise opportunity based on performance and fiscal health of the organization

·     Bonus: Annual bonus opportunity based on performance and fiscal health of the organization

·     Leave: 15 vacation days in addition to holidays plus comp. days for travel

·     Health Insurance for employee: Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO with dental and vision – The Orchestra bears 75% of the employee premium and employee is responsible for paying the balance through a payroll deduction

·     Retirement Account: Employee may enroll on the first of the month following one full month of employment. After one full year of employment the Orchestra will match up to 5% of eligible deferrals

·     Educational Development: We will work with each employee to create an individual training plan based on training needs
