About American Academy of Audiology

Located in the metropolitan Washington, DC area, the American Academy of Audiology is the world’s largest professional organization of, by and for audiologists. Representing the interests of approximately 14,000 audiologists nationwide, the Academy is dedicated to providing quality hearing care services through professional development, education, research, and increased public awareness of hearing and balance disorders. The Academy has an active Board of Directors, including an elected president and president-elect, a strong group of volunteer committee leaders, an active Foundation, and a highly-involved student member population.

The Membership Coordinator at the American Academy of Audiology plays a critical role in connecting the community to the many programs and services offered for our members. Candidates for this role need to be customer focused, adept in problem solving and demonstrating "member first" strategies. Ready to join a team of passionate colleagues to do your best work yet?

What you'll get to do:

Membership Support

 Under direction of the Senior Director of Membership and SAA, oversees the process of new member applications, member renewals, materials for new and Life members, publication subscriptions, and Academy store orders

Maintains the integrity of the membership database, making corrections as required and/or requested by members (name, address, e-mail address)

Processes all mailing list rental requests/orders

Provides administrative support for surveys

Distributes resumes to the Resume Review Subcommittee Chair and track/scan reviewed resumes

Travels to the Academy’s annual convention and oversees the operation of the onsite Academy store, including inventory planning and shipment to and from convention

 Customer Service

Manages the sales and fulfillment of publication and merchandise ordering for the online Academy store, as well as inventory system for tracking publication sales; notifies when publication reprints need to be ordered

Provides service to members and administrative support for current affinity programs

Receives and responds to all inquiries regarding membership and membership benefits

 Assists at front desk as needed

What you'll bring to the table:

 At least 1-2 years’ experience in membership, communications, customer service or similar activities

Associate level degree or higher, or equivalent experience

Strong technical, reporting and data entry skills; computer and technology savvy

Experience with working in a fast-paced environment and be very organized with keen attention-to-detail

Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate professionally, effectively, and discreetly with members and colleagues

Excellent communication skills—both verbal and written. 

Excellent problem-solving skills.
