Organization

Disability Allies is a social services agency located in East Brunswick, New Jersey. Disability Allies provides contracted services through the New Jersey Department of Human Services, Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD). These services include a coaching program, provided on a statewide basis with direct support professionals working with individual clients in the field, as well as a day program that opened in August 2019.

Position

Disability Allies has undergone a period of rapid expansion and is looking for a new Chief Operating Officer (COO) to address ongoing issues regarding corporate management and leadership. The Disability Allies board and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) are looking for a COO with experience in nonprofit management, particularly in working with DDD. The ideal candidate will focus on our corporate goals of community inclusion and social impact and will promote a culture that exemplifies our corporate values, including compassion, progress, leadership, and stewardship. The COO will report directly to the CEO and will lead staff in achieving measurable, cost-effective results that are aligned with corporate goals and values.

Responsibilities

The COO will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of Disability Allies programs and services, and will have the following responsibilities:

·        Collaborate with CEO to develop strategic direction of the organization, including planned expansion of day programs and development of residential programs

·        Develop strategic plans for new programs, including systems to involve multiple stakeholders in development process

·        Work with CEO to set comprehensive, specific goals for performance and growth throughout the organization

·        Develop strategies to meet the goals of the organization, and work to carry them out

·        Report regularly to the CEO and Board of Disability Allies about progress towards achieving program goals

·        Promote the mission, strategic goals, and corporate values of Disability Allies

·        Supervise the work of managers and specialists in the day program, coaching program, human resources, and marketing and development efforts

·        Collaborate with the Director of Compliance to ensure that Disability Allies services are operated in a manner consistent with state law and DDD regulations and bulletins

·        Reviews and develops organizational policies and procedures


Education / Experience

•        10 or more years of management experience in the nonprofit sector, ideally in working with individuals with special needs

•        Proven expertise in reaching business objectives, leading a diverse staff, and achieving measurable results

•        Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business administration or a related field

Qualifications

•           Commitment to corporate goals and values

•           Outstanding management ability, particularly in the nonprofit sector

•           Ability to make independent decisions and adapt to changing priorities in a flexible work environment

•           Exceptional ability to work with a diverse set of stakeholders

•           Demonstrates excellent judgment and interpersonal skills

•           Ability to recognize opportunities and develop new initiatives
