Southwest Youth and Family Services is a non-profit based in Seattle and southwest King County. SWYFS is looking for an HR Manager who is organized, flexible, unflappable, and highly skilled. The successful applicant will have knowledge and experience in human resources systems; be adept at office and organizational operations; and able to take on high levels of responsibility. The HR Manager will be a member of our Administrative Team, play a key role in overall agency operations, and supervise front desk staff. Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years’ HR generalist experience required. SHRM-CP/ SHRM-SCP certification strongly preferred. Excellent Microsoft Office skills are essential, as are strong writing and basic math skills and experience in non-profits or multicultural settings. Bi-lingual English-Spanish strongly preferred.


Human Resources

• Oversee Human Resources and serve as liaison between management and staff with a focus on resolving work-related issues

• Answer HR inquiries regarding personnel policies, benefits, and procedures

• Assist in development and implementation of employee handbook, personnel policies, & procedures

• Perform benefits administration to include change reporting, approving invoices for payment, and communicating benefit and relevant payroll deduction information to employees

• Coordinate annual health benefits open enrollment and ACA filing

• Design, implement, and support performance review processes alongside supervisors

• Maintain agency organizational chart, employee directory, and HR database

• Complete new hire orientation & onboarding, including new hire reporting & background checks

• Update job descriptions, post vacancies, & assist with screening and interviewing applicants

• Conduct and analyze exit interviews and employee engagement surveys and recommend changes to management

• Assist in developing internal communications such as quarterly staff newsletter

• Design, implement, and manage office policies and procedures and continually work to improve

efficiency of admin functions

• Manage and respond to employee feedback about workplace and policy improvements

• Keep abreast of State and Federal HR related regulations, e.g. FMLA, FLSA, ACA

• Maintain agency organizational charts and employee directory



• Recruit, train and supervise administrative staff, including providing consistent feedback and guidance regarding job performance

• Oversee administrative staff in the resolving of IT issues; facilities operations; and execution of office procedures

• Answer multi-line phones; cover breaks and absences of receptionist position


• Bachelor’s degree required and SHRM-CP/ SHRM-SCP certification strongly preferred 

• A minimum of 2 years’ HR generalist experience

• Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred

• Advanced MS Word, Excel, and familiarity with Paylocity HR/Payroll system

• Experience working in a human service setting, social justice or community service required

• Familiarity with Seattle area community resources 

• Experience working with a diverse staff and clientele and commitment to cultural competency

• Strong ability to maintain confidentially

• High attention to detail 

• Ability to work independently with excellent follow through skills

• Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically

• Excellent attendance and punctuality.
