Feminist Frequency – Giving Officer

Feminist Frequency seeks an energetic, strategic Giving Officer to drive organizational fundraising. The Giving Officer will work closely with members of the Feminist Frequency team to lead biannual giving campaigns, manage relationships with individual and major donors, maintain the organization’s CRM database, support the planning and execution of our annual gala, and support the growth of funding opportunities. This position is currently part-time, but our goal is transition it into a full-time position as our funding grows and allows for it.

About Feminist Frequency

Feminist Frequency is a not-for-profit organization that advocates for an inclusive and representative media landscape and the eradication of online harassment. We do this by producing free, easily accessible media that uses an intersectional feminist lens to analyze media and its relationship to societal issues such as race, gender, and sexuality. Our current online programming consists of: video, podcasts, writing, and feminist resources. In addition, we attend conferences and conventions throughout the country to reach fans, share our work, and build our community of feminist supporters. Job Summary and Responsibilities:

The Giving Officer will be responsible for managing Feminist Frequency’s development. They will work closely with our Executive Director and programming staff, and provide direction and support for all fundraising initiatives. The position is currently part-time but our goal is to transition this position into a full-time one as our funding grows and allows for it.

 Specific tasks and responsibilities will include the following:

  • Ensure that all donors are properly thanked, gifts stewarded, and follow-up provided as necessary;
  • Work collaboratively with Executive Director, Social Media Manager, Operations Director and Managing Editor to set and meet goals, integrate up-to-date programming, identify challenges and solve them;
  • Manage organization’s customer relationship management (CRM) database to track all donor engagements and to ensure that information is accurate and up-to-date, including matching corporate gift information, checks, and other miscellaneous charitable contributions;
  • Maintain and grow relationships with major donors, including tracking all communication, conducting constituent research, and fostering increased opportunities for outreach and engagement;
  • Create and implement biannual online giving campaigns, including a spring fundraising drive and an annual end-of-year campaign, comprehensive communication plans by donor segment and history;
  • Support the planning and execution of annual gala, which includes helping to secure sponsors, manage the save-the-date and invitation processes, and day-of logistics;
  • Participate in annual development strategy setting, budgeting and fundraising goals;
  • Set and evaluate progress toward goals, prepare and analyze reports for the Executive Director and Board, and recommend changes or additions to the plans, as needed;
  • Collaborate with staff and board to expand fundraising opportunities; and
  • Other tasks as assigned, related to development and fundraising and Feminist Frequency’s mission.

Qualifications and Experience

The Giving Officer will work indepently and manage multiple projects. In addition to self-direction and an eagerness to work autonomously, candidates should have:

  • At least 3-5 years of progressively responsible fundraising experience, with a proven record of managing activities to secure and retain donors;
  • The ability to prioritize effectively, and the ability to multi-task and handle multiple projects at once;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (impeccable customer service skills);
  • A self-motivated spirit of creativity and play within the position’s goals;
  • Experience with corporate, foundation, and planned giving a plus;
  • Emotional intelligence and self-awareness;
  • An ability to work flexible hours as necessary;
  • A passion for Feminist Frequency’s mission;
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (a plus, but not required); and
  • General knowledge of popular culture; knowledge of the gaming industry a plus.


Preferred candidates should live in either the San Francisco Bay area or the Los Angeles area. If a candidate is chosen from Los Angeles, they will be expected to fly to the San Francisco Bay once per month, with airline travel paid by Feminist Frequency.


This position is part-time (approximately 20hrs/wk), and offers a competitive salary that will depend on both qualifications and experience. At this time, staff must purchase their own health insurance.
