Kid Power inspires youth leadership by promoting academic achievement, physical and emotional wellness, and positive civic engagement in underserved communities throughout the District of Columbia. With a 2.2 M budget, we serve over 450 youth daily and reach over 1,000 youth annually with our after-school, summer, in-school programs, and community-based mentoring program. Your Responsibilities:

HR Support

●       Ensures proper staff orientation (assist with training, onboarding, help staff obtain and collect background checks, etc.)

●       Ensures staff complete proper employment paperwork (W4, I9, W9)

●       Maintain and update digital staff folders (employment paperwork, background checks, resume, etc.)

●       Collects all employee hours, timesheets, and contractor invoices on bi-weekly basis

●       In coordination with senior management, ensures timesheets reflect time/effort for specific grants

●       Inputs timesheet data into Federal Work Study databases

●       Maintain a healthy and empowering office environment that encourages open, honest and productive communication among Kid Power staff and with partner organizations.

Financial Operational Support

●       In coordination with Kid Power’s Executive Director and bookkeeper, supports invoicing for government grants on a monthly basis. This includes organizing pulling account general ledgers in Quickbooks and organizing receipts online.

●       Assist bookkeeper with coordinating contracts and payments

●       Manage scholarship invoicing and payments

●       Work with the Program Directors, ensure appropriate and timely grant spending to achieve program goals, including procurement, use and distribution of supplies and resources.

Strategic and General Support

●       As a member of the senior management team, the Operations Manager will attend senior staff and occasional program head meetings to be a constant thought partner to help Kid Power strategize process improvement across programs and departments.

●       The Operations Manager will attend occasional special events (parent nights, fundraisers) and support larger community building initiatives alongside senior staff members.

●       The position will provide flexibility across departments to allow the Operations Manager to pursue other operational needs and areas of interest. This includes student data collection and analysis, community data collection, grant writing and research, donor data collection and analysis, and more. 

 Technology Support

●       Oversees “User Management” in Kid Power’s email domain (creating, suspending email accounts)

●       Helps continue to monitor and operationalize Kid Power’s Technology Scope of Work

●       Update and maintain technology tracker document to keep ongoing inventory of KP technology property

●       Have staff complete technology liability when distributing laptops, tablets, phones, etc. for work usage

●       Ensure staff download and use anti-virus software on KP property

●       Keep passwords updated in LastPass online database

 Qualifications:

 ●       University degree and at least three years of experience in operations

●       Excellent time management and organizational skills

●       Ability to take initiative and work independently

●       Strong analytical and problem solving skills

●       Strong interpersonal skills

●       Excellent communication skills

●       Sound computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and familiarity with Google Drive

●       Experience with Quickbooks
