MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

LEADERSHIP

  • Demonstrate an overall vision for the Boarding community which articulates and implements the Mission, Core Values, and the Strategic Plan of IQRA Bilingual Academy
  • Develop, use and assess various data to determine the effectiveness of Boarding in meeting the Mission, Core Values, Strategic plans and needs of Boarding/Boarding students.
  • Provide leadership in the area of faith formation and pastoral care of Boarding students, parents, and staff.
  • Actively lead in the formation of Boarding students in collaboration with the Boarding School Director and school Leadership Teams
  • Ensure that Boarding policies, related and practices are implemented in line with the IQRABA's Mission, Core Values and Strategic Plan.

PASTORAL CARE

  • Monitor student well-being in consultation with teaching staff to meet the requirements of individuals, including learning support students and students at risk.
  • Ensure that accurate student records are maintained and when appropriate, inform staff of relevant issues regarding a student’s welfare.
  • Develop and lead a leadership structure that encourages student leaders to develop a leadership role within the Boarding community and empower them to be involved in decision-making processes.
  • Co-ordinate the orientation and induction of news students, monitoring their ongoing progress and transition into the Boarding community.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate behavioral management strategies to promote positive behavior of students and to enhance student well-being.
  • Develop and regularly review the integration of positive education principles and language (a strand of positive psychology) into the pastoral care structure and student formation and well-being initiatives.
  • Monitor and case manage students of concern through observing their academic, social, spiritual, emotional and physical well-being, and addressing areas of concern through appropriate interventions.
  • Develop, maintain, and review a comprehensive program of social activity for Boarding students.
  • Maintain standards in the school environment, including grooming and uniform, punctuality, travel arrangements for holidays, absences from school and attendance in class.
  • Develop systems that support effective study habits and routines among Boarding students and provide for additional academic support when required. Review regularly the effectiveness of this support and implement appropriate changes.
  • Ensure parents are informed and involved in all aspects of their son’s Boarding life.


ADMINISTRATION MANAGEMENT

Work with the Boarding School Director to...

  • Be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Boarding community.
  • Ensure the due care and supervision of students involved in all Boarding activities.
  • Oversee programs that address the social, sporting and cultural needs of Boarding students.
  • Be responsible for procedures regarding leave arrangements of Boarding students
  • Oversee the process with parents in the coordination of travel arrangements of Boarding students.
  • Liaise with relevant medical staff to ensure good health care for all Boarding students.
  • Manage a roster system for Boarding Supervisors/Tutors and engage temporary Boarding Supervisors when required.
  • Liaise with the Finance Director to ensure the appropriate care of all Boarding facilities and environment.
  • Liaise with the Food Manager to ensure the daily provision of adequate and nourishing meals for Boarding students and staff.
  • Be responsible for the preparation and effective management of the Boarding budget in liaison with the Director and the Finance Director.
  • Provide an annual written report to the Director addressing the Boarding community activities as well as an evaluation of student well-being within the Boarding community.


STAFF MANAGEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT

  • In conjunction with the Director and Boarding School Director, be responsible for the recruitment of Boarding Supervisors and tutors.
  • Develop the professional expertise and compliance requirements of Boarding Supervisors and staff through active participation in professional development opportunities. Work with the Human Resources Officer ensuring school policies and procedures are maintained.
  • Organize and conduct regular, minuted and effective Boarding meetings. Demonstrate the ability to make informed decisions and encourage the active involvement of staff in decision-making in pertinent matters.
  • Establish clear and consistent professional expectations for Boarding Supervisors and staff.


COMMUNITY RELATIONS

  • Foster open communication and collaboration with parents regarding Boarding community events and student progress.
  • Develop and maintain a Boarding parent group to foster Boarding community and parental input.
  • Promote Boarding programs and activities via Boarding publications in a regular way.


GENERAL

  • Other duties as directed by the Boarding Director and/or Executive Director of IQRA Bilingual Academy
