The Bilingual (Spanish/English) Child & Family Therapist is responsible for providing direct therapeutic services to child witnesses of intimate partner violence and their families on an ongoing basis as well as in crises. This includes supervision of interns, serving as a liaison between Clinical Services and the Latino community and may include services to adult victims of IPV. The Child & Family Therapist participates in a team approach among staff to address the trauma, mental health and other clinical issues clients may present.
In collaboration with the Site-Lead Therapist, the Bilingual Child & Family Therapist ensures that the goals, objectives, and work effort of the staff at these sites are consistent with the mission of House of Ruth Maryland and advances the agency and program’s strategic goals and objectives. This position is responsible for maintaining program integrity within the agency and in the community.
• Provides one-on-one counseling for child witnesses of intimate partner violence and their families in crisis and on an ongoing basis.
• Provides comprehensive bio-psycho-social assessments for child witnesses of intimate partner violence.
• Provides individual parenting education, to include the effects of intimate partner violence on children.
• Provides support groups for child witnesses of intimate partner violence and their families.
• Provides administrative and reflective supervision to interns working with adults, children and families. Including establishing performance expectations, performance evaluation, establishing priorities, accountability monitoring, performance improvement interventions, and conducting regular individual supervision meetings.
• Participates in Clinical Services staff meetings and case review.
• Participates in individual case review and clinical supervision with the department’s Clinical Supervisor.
• Take responsibility for assuring service is client-focused, culturally competent and sensitive, strength based, and built on a foundation of sound clinical theory and trauma informed best practices.
• Ensures the collection and integrity of client/service data.
• Suggests opportunities to use interns and volunteers, trains, supervises, and provides support.
• Represents HRM through professional presentations for educational and marketing purposes.
• Establishes service linkage agreements to increase the number of clients served, and provide more comprehensive services to clients.
• Makes recommendations to Site-Lead Therapist for service adaptation based on best practices established by research in the field.
• Other duties as assigned.
