Job Summary

Responsible for the management of community-based substance abuse prevention services across the tri-county region (Grand, Moffat, Routt); previously operating under Grand Futures Prevention Coalition, these services have recently been brought under the administration of the Partners organization. Prevention programming focuses on three strategies: positive youth development, education for trusted adults and community engagement. This position reports directly to the Executive Director; currently manages five staff, and supports their work in each county including but not limited to: Youth Action Councils, provide prevention educational services (UpRISE), the Strengthening Families program, Youth Mental Health First Aid classes, and a variety of other services.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 2 years of experience in a leadership role
  • Experience supervising employees and/or volunteers  
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to relate effectively with people of varying backgrounds, appreciate and embrace diversity 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to manage projects, programs simultaneously, time, be detail oriented & show initiative
  • Ability to work independently and with a team 
  • Demonstrated ability to foster positive, supportive relationships with collaborative partners 
  • Concrete knowledge of computer operations including Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, etc.) and Google Suite (gmail, calendar, docs, forms, etc.)
  • Ability to learn new databases and systems quickly that support the organization
  • Must be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends 
  • Must have a privately owned vehicle, current driver’s license and up to date insurance, willingness to drive to other service areas in the region as needed.
  • Pass employment background screening

Desired Qualifications: (on job training provided as needed)

  • Knowledge of effective prevention strategies to meet the needs of the target population
  • Knowledge of needs assessment, logic model construction, selection and implementation of research-based prevention interventions
  • Knowledge/experience in grant management and reporting
  • Experience and/or passion for serving youth and families facing adversity such as poverty, substance abuse, and educational challenges  
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to network effectively and encourage others towards achieving desired goals 
  • Conflict management and problem-solving skills 
  • Experience of managing and evaluating programs toward performance targets 

Key Responsibilities include but not limited to: 

Note: Staff refers to prevention services personnel specifically

  • Develop staff positions to meet the needs of the organization/prevention service, including hiring, on-boarding, training and empowering.
  • Supervise and manage services staff, which includes conducting staff meetings, county visits and supporting county prevention programs, i.e., having a physical presence in each community
  • Work with the Executive Director and Mentoring Program Director, to manage grants which includes completing reporting, maintaining communication with grant contacts and evaluators
  • Budget: Assist in the development and management of Prevention Services portion of the organization’s operating budget, follow accounting procedures for prevention services & staff 
  • Network, build relationships and serve as a liaison between Partners prevention services and other local, state, and national agencies and prevention project entities
  • Promote prevention services in the region via in person and media outlets as requested/needed 
  • Develop and maintain effective working partnerships with each communities resources, school sites, youth service agencies and other community organizations as it relates to the Partners prevention (and mentoring) services
  • Support & assist in creating program and organizational goals and strategic plans  
  • Support the Board of Directors and PRC staff in supplemental tasks as needed (planning, advertising/marketing, fundraising, data collection/evaluation, IT, etc.) 
  • Administrative duties as it pertains to staff management
  • Work professionally with all staff as part of Partners in Routt County’s (PRC) integrated team and participate in related internal and external meetings as required
