Opportunity

The Executive Director of the Beyond Barriers Athletic Foundation (BBAF) is an exceptional part-time opportunity to lead and make a difference in the lives of disadvantaged youth in the San Francisco Bay Area. BBAF serves disadvantaged youth in the San Francisco Bay Area by providing financial subsidies for aquatic and athletic programs to promote healthy lifestyles, improve personal safety, and provide structure for lifelong achievement. Since our inception in 2012, we have served over 1,300 children in underserved communities, subsidized 10,400 swim lessons, and supported over 5,000 hours of other aquatic activities. 

The Executive Director (ED) meets with the BBAF board of directors each month to develop and decide on strategic decisions, events and programs, communications, and fundraising opportunities. The ideal ED will have had non-profit executive leadership and management experience comparable to the duties and responsibilities below. In addition to possessing the skills and attributes described below, the ED will have a sincere interest in swimming and other aquatic sports, as one of the primary constituencies of financial support are former and current swimmers living in the S.F. Bay Area. This is a paid part-time position, requiring approximately 20 hours per week. 


Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Fundraising:

  • Create and implement a fundraising/development plan to support existing programs and future growth opportunities.
  • Identify and develop corporate, foundation, community and individual prospects.
  • Sustain stewardship programs and relationships with donors.
  • Engage and motivate board members and volunteers to support, coordinate and participate in fundraising goals, events and activities.
  • Manage and expand constituent and donor relationships and database.

 

Communications:

  • Represent BBAF, effectively establishing a local presence and elevating awareness and reputation.
  • Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication capabilities.
  • Be proficient with e-newsletter and website creation, writing, distribution and software.
  • Able to communicate efficiently and effectively with the Board and all other stakeholders.


Administration:

  • Demonstrate essential skills in management, administration, finance, fundraising/development, communications, and systems.
  • Embody strong leadership qualities, demonstrating self-starting abilities and interpersonal prowess.
  • Able to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.
  • Ensure fiscal and operational integrity of BBAF through preparation and adherence to annual budgets and monthly financial statements that accurately reflect the organization's financial condition.
  • Ensure compliance with government and other applicable regulations.

Salary

$70,000 - $100,000$35-$50 per hour depending on experience. Approximately 20 hours per week.
