The Mission


KIPP LA Public Schools is a non-profit organization that operates free, open-enrollment, college-preparatory public charter schools serving students in South, Southeast, and East Los Angeles. KIPP LA’s mission is to teach the academic skills, foster the intellectual habits, and cultivate the character traits needed for our students to thrive in school, college, and life. Through the success of our students, KIPP LA's team and family will serve as a model of excellence and collaborate with others to raise the quality of education in Los Angeles.


KIPP LA currently operates 15 schools and serves approximately 6,500 students. Our team is expanding rapidly; over the next five years, we will more than double the number of students we serve.


The Opportunity


  • The Authorizer Relations Manager will help ensure KIPP LA can fulfill its mission of opening new schools to add to the number of students served, as well as continuing to serve current students at schools to be renewed.
  • Qualified candidate has led and successfully executed entire project and work streams. Additionally, they have collaborated with diverse stakeholders and has consistently produced high quality work and managers others to do so.


The Responsibilities


  • Obtain and maintain special training, experience and knowledge regarding charter school authorization
  • Oversee the preparation and document collection process for all new and renewal charter petitions
  • Make recommendations to the Director of Public Programs and Authorizer Relations for meeting and maintaining compliance with our authorizers and charter process
  • Through backward planning, create system for tracking progress of all KIPP LA charter petitions and renewal petitions
  • Develop relationships with school and regional staff based in mutual trust, respect and appreciation
  • Assist with preparing and providing on-site support for schools and KIPP LA Leadership at authorizer District Board meetings related to charter renewals, new petitions and/or material revisions
  • Perform other duties as identified in order to meet team goals
  • Manage the Compliance Coordinator


The Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree required 5-7 years full time work experience
  • Experience in education is a significant plus
  • Goal driven, accountable, and reliable; Strong attention to detail and follow through
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and implementation skills
  • Excellent computer skills, experience working with Google platform a plus
  • Ability to work independently, set priorities, and complete work accurately and in a timely manner
  • Relentless determination to do whatever it takes to help our students succeed
