The Marketing and Advertising Associate is a full-time, non-exempt position which coordinates multiple marketing efforts, promotional events, and supports the day-to-day needs of the Marketing team. This position reports to the Senior Integrated Marketing Manager while also working closely with the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) to support paid media campaigns with agency partners.


  • Support the CMO’s work with external media agency partners
  • Help develop effective strategies and tactics to reach marketing goals, and analyze and optimize plans on ongoing basis
  • Ensure smooth communication amongst all parties, including internal coordination of creative and technical needs for ad creation and tracking
  • Work with Creative Services department to facilitate timely production and trafficking of ads (print, OOH, digital, broadcast)
  • Coordinate invoice processing and financial reconciliation for media and production vendors
  • Coordinate logistics of all trade and promotional ticket requests with the Box Office
  • Recommend and coordinate annual marketing-driven external events, with emphasis around The Nutcracker
  • Identify best promotional opportunities based on audience, demographics, size, press opportunities, and other factors
  • Coordinate all event logistics, including communication with event hosts, volunteer recruitment, and staffing
  • Coordinate follow-up communication and discount offers to leads collected at events and track ROI (within the season, and long-term), and make recommendations for future participation based on performance
  • Help identify and build relationships with local cultural organizations, retailers, libraries, restaurants, and other appropriate businesses to secure creative cross-promotions
  • Lead process with Marketing team to develop innovative and cost-effective promotional initiatives
  • Compile marketing wrap-up reports for each production and key marketing initiatives
  • Work with marketing staff to capture imagery and results of any promotions
  • Share relevant data with Development for donor and corporate sponsorship reporting
  • Coordinate college audience initiatives, including the College Ambassador program
  • In collaboration with Group Sales Manager, develop ongoing relationships with university administrators and student leaders of targeted local colleges to encourage ongoing participation with productions, special events, and Boston Ballet School classes
  • Recruit and manage College Ambassadors
  • Coordinate with Box Office to track attendance by school
  • Coordinate on-site marketing presence at all Boston Ballet locations
  • Determine needs for collateral (rack cards, posters, flyers, etc.) and coordinate distribution through paid vendors as well as other grassroots efforts and street team marketing
  • Coordinate logistics and set-up for Manager on Duty program and other in-theater events, in collaboration with Senior Integrated Marketing Manager
  • Coordinate on-site presence at 19 Clarendon and BBS studio locations in Newton and North Shore with brochures and signage to encourage students and families to buy tickets, subscriptions, and merchandise
  • Provide departmental financial support, including trafficking incoming production invoices to appropriate departments, and reconciling credit card statements
  • Other marketing and communications related duties and administrative tasks as needed



  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, or related communications field
  • 1-2 years of marketing or related work experience
  • Creative self-starter with strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • High level of accuracy working with numbers
  • Excellent organizational and analytic skills with strong attention to detail
  • Flexible, positive attitude with ability to multi-task and problem solve in a fast-paced and collaborative environment
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite
  • Some weekends and evenings required throughout the year
