This is a full-time position within our Therapeutic Foster Care Program. The purpose of the program is to assure continuity of placement and provide support and case management for medically complex and therapeutic foster care families.
The Therapeutic Foster Care Social workers responsibilities will include supervision of foster homes in Fairfield County with SED or medically complex children. You will provide a variety of clinical assessments and supportive interventions, individualized to meet the broad needs of children and foster parents. In addition you will:
• Assist in matching and placement of children in foster family homes;
• Provide minimum weekly visits with child and foster family;
• Demonstrate appreciation of cultural diversity, heritage and knowledge of cultural issues and patterns
◾ Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling or related discipline.
◾ Knowledge and expertise of the child welfare system, attachment issues, and family systems
◾ Bi-lingual is not required but desirable
◾ Must hold valid Connecticut drivers license and full insurance coverage
◾ Must have reliable transportation
◾ Ability to work well with families, children and collaterals
◾ Ability to write clear and concise reports
◾ Must have awareness of the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of clients served
