The Violence Intervention Program (VIP) partners with Latinx communities and all communities of color to end gender-based violence. Created as a grassroots response to intimate partner violence and sexual assault, VIP has always centered survivors in its leadership and has worked to create a community of staff that reflects the rich national, ethnic and racial diversity of the communities it serves. VIP operates four non-residential social service programs, two residential shelter and housing programs, a 24/7 hotline, and a robust communications and outreach department.

The Program Coordinator is an exuberant and compassionate leader who supports a robust team of Counselor/Advocate, and interns whom are providing comprehensive crisis intervention, advocacy and counseling in both individual and group settings to survivors of intimate partner and sexual violence. The Program Coordinator is also an administrator who will manage a large government contract, ensuring full contract compliance, accurate reporting, and responsible budgeting. As a bridge between frontline staff and VIP’s administration, the Program Coordinator will partner with fiscal, human resources, quality assurance/data personnel, and other executive staff to establish best practices in office and staff management. The ideal candidate embraces values of diversity, cultural humility, teamwork, and community empowerment.

Essential Functions:

Ø Plan and implement community-based programming for survivors and their children.

Ø Evaluate program effectiveness/efficiency to ensure highest standards of excellence in services and full compliance with policies, procedures and contractual obligations.

Ø Orient and train all new staff.

Ø Provide consistent individual and group supervision to staff, volunteers and interns to ensure ongoing professional development and high-quality service delivery.

Ø Remain abreast of new developments and changes in policies and practices impacting survivors (immigration, public benefits, housing etc.).

Ø Create and maintain accurate and comprehensive data including statistical information for reporting purposes as determined by VIP and agency funders.

Ø Work with Director of Quality Assurance and Compliance and Director of Non-Residential Services to ensure timely delivery of all grant reports.

Ø Manage team schedules and office space for reliable staff coverage during operating hours

Ø Ensuring proper maintenance of documentation requirements.

Ø Ensuring all VIP participants obtain Crime Victims Assistance information and assistance with compensation claims.

Ø Working collaboratively with other program(s) and agency staff to improve delivery of services including resource development, and special projects as needed.

Ø Establish and maintain formal linkages with community agencies to connect survivors to legal, mental health, parenting, and bilingual resources.

Ø Provide periodic review, evaluation, cost analysis and modification of the program to meet community needs as well as funding source requirements.

Ø Keep supervisors informed of new developments; best practice and trends in the program's operation and be alert to changing community needs.

Ø Represent VIP at conferences, community meetings and special events; including Promoting VIP services at all public functions.

Ø Maintain/oversee the petty cash and food voucher systems/reports as required by Fiscal Department.

Ø Maintain a small, active caseload.

Ø Report language access issues as they occur to Director of Non-Residential Services.

Ø Strategize and advocate for economic security for survivors.

Ø Conduct community outreach and/or educational workshops to raise awareness of intimate partner and sexual violence in Latinx communities.

Ø Perform other tasks as required, including any related supervisory and administrative duties as needed.

Additional Functions:

Ø Assist Human Resources Manager and Director of Nonresidential Services with the recruitment and selection of staff.

Ø Prepares and/or review agency and program wide quantitative and qualitative data.

Ø Prepares program report(s) for ED to share at meetings of the Board of Directors.

Ø Monitors and approves program expenditures ensuring that budget allocations are not overspent.

Ø Work closely with Development Department in providing programmatic and statistical data for support of grant applications.

Data Collection & Entry:

Ø Review all data entry for accuracy and compliance.

Ø Analyze data to identify performance issues and to ensure data quality.

Ø Prepare internal and external reports to ensure level of performance and compliance.

Ø Make recommendations for improvement or enhancement to data processes to ensure standards in data entry, collection, and retrieval (to DCAC).


Ø Master’s Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling or other Human Services related field preferred

Ø Fully Bilingual Required (English/Spanish – verbal and written).

Ø A minimum of two (2) years counseling experience in the area of domestic violence, sexual assault, or related field.

Ø Minimum of one (1) year of management/supervision experience.

Ø Minimum of one (1) year grant management experience.

Ø Strong verbal, written, communication and documenting skills.

Ø Must be well organized, work independently and collectively, while maintaining a flexible schedule.

Ø Must be knowledgeable in working with diverse communities, particularly Latinx, people of color, and low- income populations, and must deliver services with cultural humility.

Ø Must be able to exercise good judgment and sensitivity at all times.

Ø Must ensure agency, program and client confidentiality at all times.

Ø Must work well with a team and bring self-awareness and accountability to the workplace.

Ø Must be passionate about intersectional social justice issues impacting survivors of trauma.

Ø Good sense of humor a huge plus.


General Requirements:

All staff is expected to be committed to the mission, vision and values of the Violence Intervention Program, Inc, which includes involvement in quality improvement activities and a willingness to work within a culturally diverse environment. All Coordinators are expected to work 35 hours per week, with a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends. Due to the nature of VIP's programs, you are expected to be available as needed.

Level of Language Proficiency

Ø Master’s Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling or other Human Services related field preferred

Ø Fully Bilingual Required (English/Spanish – verbal and written).
