GALvanize USA seeks a Development Manager.

Responsibilities and Tasks 

  • Develop and execute an annual fundraising strategy
  • Secure financial support from individuals, foundations, and innovative investors
  • Implement and manage development tracking systems and oversee staff responsible for data entry and acknowledgments 
  • Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with major donors and foundation contacts
  • Cultivate and serve as the primary point of contact for prospective donors
  • Organize special events, including in-person fundraisers, online briefings for prospective donors, and exclusive briefings for major donors
  • Harness the energy of an established volunteer fundraising committee
  • Collaborate across campaign, communications, and operations teams to ensure integration
  • Manage online donations and end-of-year appeal program
  • Develop and track proposals and reports for all foundation fundraising

Education and Experience:

  • 4-6 years of experience working in fundraising and development
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and with a team
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and training

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Strong command of verbal and written communication
  • Confidence, poise, and ease interacting with current and prospective donors
  • Ability to design and update effective systems and procedures
  • Commitment to understanding race, class, gender, and other equity issues as part of your work as well as the impact these structural issues have on our collective work environment
  • Occasional travel (dependent on COVID-19)

Valued and Non-Essential Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Ability 

  • Proficiency in G Suite, Salesforce, EveryAction, MailChimp, Slack, Asana, and similar technology is ideal. The ability to independently master these and similar software is critical.
  • Knowledge of 501c3 and 501c4 compliance requirements.
