Position Summary:

Provide high quality and culturally sensitive community education programs and support, outreach, case management and counseling for Domestic Violence survivors and their children. Understand the intersection between DV and housing stabilization. Deliver services with integrity and compassion while promoting safety, self-sufficiency, trauma-informed and strength-based approaches; valuing clients’ skills, resilience, and capacities to take charge of their lives. Collaborate with Alameda County community partners to promote positive relationships with Building Futures’ staff and clients. Develop strong resources and engaging methods of delivery.

Essential Functions:

  • Receive intakes and provide case management, follow-up care and supportive services to victims of domestic violence. Provide crisis intervention by phone.
  • Facilitate DV support group for clients. Ensure Building Futures' educational material is up-to-date and widely distributed in the outreach community.
  • Establish good working relationships with law enforcement, victim advocates, attorneys, court clerks, judges, and all court personnel.
  • Facilitate 40-hour Domestic Violence training for staff, volunteers, and community participants.
  • Collect and record weekly statistical data relevant to services to assist with identifying program outcomes and goals.
  • Participate in cross-team collaboration to keep agency members informed of the DV program services.
  • Other duties as assigned to facilitate the smooth responsive and empowering functioning of the domestic violence outreach services provided by the agency.

Qualifications:

  • Certified Domestic Violence Counselor.
  • Bachelors or equivalent experience in a human service setting. Masters of Social Work (MSW) degree preferred.
  • Two (2) years of DV services experience, preferably with women and children.
  • Knowledge of Domestic Violence dynamics and Alameda County resources for homeless and other underserved populations.
  • California Driver’s License, valid car insurance and access to personal vehicle required.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of energy and enthusiasm driven by a passion to support BFWC’s mission.

  • Ability to work at a desk or computer workstation in an office setting.
  • Ability to perform repetitive office tasks.
  • Ability to review a wide variety of materials in electronic or hard copy form.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity to enable the employee to operate a personal computer, phone, and related equipment.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
