Description & Reporting


The Donor Relations and Database Associate is a regular, full-time position based in The Israel Project’s (“TIP”) Washington, DC office. He/She works under the general supervision of the Chief Operations Officer.


Key Functions and Responsibilities


  • Reports to the Chief Operations Officer
  • Oversees TIP’s donor database; responsible for all activities related to maintaining and updating donor records in TIP’s online database system (DonorPerfect/NationBuilder)
  • Develops an in-depth, detailed understanding of Donor Perfect/NationBuilder in order to be able to maintain the system appropriately; works directly with the vendor to ensure that TIP’s system is kept current
  • Responsible for all Club Level maintenance related materials going to all donor levels throughout the year (Upcoming)
  • Responsible for arranging meetings, events, and documenting interactions in donor portfolios – including some new regional events and outreach
  • Assists in preparation and development of donor appeal strategy with Development Team
  • Assists with Grant Writing and lead on Foundation Research projects
  • Lead team member on Foundation calendar tracking
  • Assists with event planning for development/donor events
  • Trains all new DonorPerfect and NationBuilder users; works with existing users to ensure consistency and continuity of the data entry into the system
  • Develops a detailed understanding of DonorPerfect & NationBuilder order to be able to generate various standard and special reports
  • Development Team Liaison with Accounting
  • Ensures the generation of the final online contribution report and ensures upload of month-end data into DonorPerfect and NationBuilder; generates appropriate reports (beginning of each month)
  • Ensures the generation of a report of all contributions received since Oct 1 of the previous year (TIP’s fiscal year runs Oct 1-Sept 30); emails report to accounting (beginning of each month)
  • Ensures the generation of the Outstanding Pledge report, emails the report to accounting (beginning of each month)
  • Responsible for development department side of Database migration to NationBuilder and DonorPerfect
  • Will be point person to train all development staff on new development software after migration and continue work above from DonorPerfect and NationBuilder
  • Lead team member on monthly donor conference calls
  • Liaison with Digital/Marketing Department to ensure all e-based campaigns are configured and distributed properly
  • Analyzes data to ensure accurate reporting of fundraising results
  • Updates and maintains donor map graphic as needed/Updates and maintains donor grid by location and number of donors
  • Prepares meeting and event briefings
  • Staffs call time for Senior Staff when necessary
  • Creation of donor call list for CEO and Senior Staff
  • Generate weekly Development Reports from DonorPerfect to track agreed up Fiscal Year Goals and distribute to Development Team.
  • Other tasks as assigned


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required


  • 2+ years of office experience
  • Must be able to effectively plan/manage work flow on multiple projects simultaneously and manage project details with limited supervision
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • High level of proficiency in the Microsoft suite of products, must also be familiar with Adobe PDF and database management systems
  • Willingness to work off-hours, when necessary
  • Previous experience with DonorPerfect and NationBuilder preferred
  • Understanding of the Middle East and commitment to Israel


Educational Degree(s), Professional Degree(s), or Certifications(s) Required


  • Bachelor’s degree required
